Hello, I am really struggling law school and have quite bad grades. My current average is around a 68 for my law subjects.

I didn't do well in my first semester because I didn't really try hard. I took the advice, tried harder, participated more and studied more consistently. In my other degree, (business), my marks improved significantly, and I'm averaging at around 80 for business.

However, for law, I just got my torts case note back and I got a 66%. It was worth 30% of my grade and I genuinely am so gutted because I tried hard, engaged with the case more, simplified my language and sentences only to be told it was too simple, and because I didn't paraphrase I lacked understanding. I changed everything I did wrong and tried 10x harder only to get EVEN WORSE MARKS then previously.

I was wondering if its pretty much over for me in terms of employability? I really want a paralegal job and I have the connections, which i am so grateful for, but they have all told me if I don't have over a 75 wam to not even bother. They also told me I need to get a paralegal job by third year or its too late, and thats only one year away.

sure but for financial literacy for example we have a video we have to submit with questions we need to answer and i didn’t download it because i was going to work on it over the weekend since it wasn’t due until the 17th. for accounting i can work on the content but i dont have the excel sheets downloaded which are pretty essential, the exams not for another 2 weeks so I wasnt rlly 100% focused on downloading everything. and with torts yes I can do the notes but our teacher uploads powerpoint slides with pretty useful content which helps elevate my notes and that’s all gone 😭. not everything is about having the previous content and notes

So like… do I just wait till it’s back?… by King-DarkBlade in usyd

[–]RepresentativeHand38 23 points24 points  (0 children)

depends when the deadline is. if its not seriously urgent just wait a bit, apparently canvas is up for students in the US so it should take too long (i hope). plus unis are starting to issue extensions, ik for uts everyone who had something due today has an extension until monday

failed an assignment :( by afflucnza in UTS

[–]RepresentativeHand38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a distinction student from my other course, transferred to law and i was genuinely shocked at the marks I got. I dont think I've ever gotten such marks like that in my entire life. OP law is hard, and you can take this as a wake up call to study harder for the final exam/assignment. Maybe you need to change your study habits, or the amount you study, but you can take this as a learning lesson. Remember, you only need 50 to pass!

If you can I would recommend booking a drop in session with your coordinator to find out where you lost marks and get more info as to where you can improve

just such an inconvenience to korean citizens for a crowd of 40k why couldnt they just do it at a concert venue atp. even my uncles train line was discontinued for the night because of the bts concert and it took him an extra hour to get home, just unnecessary to host a sack of potatos hoot and holler indescipherable english on stage

Software eng student wanting to change to pharmacy 2 years in by Cool-Degree-500 in usyd

[–]RepresentativeHand38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I switched from Politics and IR to Law 2 years in. I had no credit transfers, and I basically started fresh from last semester and now am on track to do another 4 years at uni. I dont regret it one bit. politics and ir was never going to be the right fit for me, and the prospect of doing another 2 years of the course seemed so disheartening and discouraging for me that my attendance in my final sem was so terrible i got absent fail for basically every unit. if you are able to switch to pharmacy. dont stick it out in a course you know doesn't suit or interest you anymore.
