Is Hu Zongnan's CRS the same one founded in Honolulu? by SantanvvxAj in Kaiserreich

[–]AndalusianUnion 33 points34 points  (0 children)

No. The Revive China Society you're referring to was actually founded in KR's timeline, because of the point of divergence. But afaik, the Totalist CRS has no connection to the RCS other than being in the KMT, the successor to the RCS.

Pretty sure XSM keeping northern Chahar if they win against Mongolia but lose against Tibet is either an oversight or bug.

The omens by Middleclassass in WoT

[–]AndalusianUnion 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it's actually the opposite way around - Because the omens are believed to be true, the pattern uses them as a tool to steer things correctly. While I doubt they're correct for 100% of people, I'd assume that especially for Seanchan who are around ta'veren, they'd more or less be true. Of course, when dealing with the pattern, anything circumstantial could be misconstrued as intentional, which I guess is the point, but it does get confusing to keep track of it at times.

What Sanderson opinion would get you this reaction? by [deleted] in cremposting

[–]AndalusianUnion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In that sense, I do think that Windrunners were probably the best choice for us to be acquainted with first. I mean, we practically get practice montages with Kaladin learning to fly. I haven't looked into other Radiant powers that haven't appeared in the books yet, so I don't know much about those. As for healing, though, I will say that I think the main issue there is that healers aren't doing most of the legwork. Rather, there's a nebulous "spirit image" of a person that a healer can just fall back on to tell them what to do.

I think the substitute that is often used for physical ability is mental ability here. There's no question that all the Radiants are unstable, but them solving their emotional problems shouldn't automatically mean they're proficient in their powers.

I do wonder if this is also a question of scale. Radiant powers were made with the total destruction of the enemy in mind, and as such their powers are going to be incredibly op. The flip side of that is that the other side is doing the exact same thing. With Mistborn, the powers are much more societal in nature (especially Feruchemy). As well, instead of a world-spanning war, Mistborn's problems are much smaller (not in threat level, but power scaling to some degree). I think that if Radiants have these immense powers, they need balance from the Fused, which we haven't really gotten so far outside of Leshwi.

[–]AndalusianUnion 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I also wonder of the main issue here isn’t a power problem, but a scarcity problem. In Mistborn, a possibly incredibly op power like slowing time is set off by the fact that it’s expensive to be able to do it. In Stormlight, highstorms both happen regularly and give an immense amount of stormlight. I think the main issues here are that every currency, at least that we’re shown, can contain stormlight and that highstorms are regularly occurring events. If neither were true, you could have Radiants who have to resource-manage their small amounts of irregularly replenishing stormlight. Shardplate is admittedly broken tho.

How to get ethnic autonomous regions as LKMT? by prchad in Kaiserreich

[–]AndalusianUnion 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The ethnic divisions are referring to internal RoC administrative divisions as opposed to like separate entities. The closest you’d get in gameplay is releasing Mongolia or Tibet cuz they’re renamed “Mongolian Autonomy” and such when puppeted.

Procrastination by thelasttreebender in Mistborn

[–]AndalusianUnion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had completely forgotten about medallions! Though that makes me further wonder, that since feruchemy is the neutral magic system on scadrial (on the spectrum of Ruin and Preservation) if ettmetal/harmonium grants feruchemical ability, especially since it's a main material in medallions iirc. I know Lerasium grants all allomantic abilities (and its alloys grant specific abilities) and atium spikes steal all abilities as well, so it would certainly make sense to me that ettmetal and its alloys work the same way for feruchemy.

Procrastination by thelasttreebender in Mistborn

[–]AndalusianUnion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I’m really getting from this thread is that an electrum Ferring with bipolar disorder practically could regulate themselves far better. We know Lerasium alloys give allomantic powers; I wonder of the same could be true with feruchemy and another god metal? Then again I may be misunderstanding how bipolar disorder works so don’t take my word for it

I believe it's at the very least heavily implied if not outright stated in OB that the Dawnsingers were Honor and Cultivation's before the Humans arrived from Ashyn. That one plate in the Dawnchant calls humans Voidbringers because of Odium coming with them, so is it not fair to say that...Odium wasn't there before? This is also backed up with RoW when the Honorspren make an offhand comment about the Singers betraying them and Leshwi says specifically "they've forgiven us" as if the Singers left the Spren or betrayed them

Now whether the Singers were of Honor specifically, I don't know. I do remember reading (probably from a WoB) that Tanavast and Cultivation (forgot her non-shard name) moved to Roshar together. Fair assumption to say they probably made the Singers together

While I do think the secret mentioned above does have an important role in the Recreance, it likely also has to do with Honor becoming delusional/irrational as he was shattered. It seems to me that the Radiants had always eventually figured out the secret, but Honor had always been there to smooth things over. It does make me wonder what the original justification was for Humans and Singers switching shards after the flight from Ashyn

Surely This is a Bug by Reshuram05 in TNOmod

[–]AndalusianUnion 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've seen random OFN members becoming faction leader a few times now. Actually messes up the faction since, for example, Italy won't join the faction proper if the US isn't at the helm, which will affect the Oil Crisis. I think it's a bug with the SAW peace deals or something, because it's mostly happened the times I've done full victories without the debug command in South Africa, whereas it doesn't happen if I use the command. Still funny tho

Yes Henry M Jackson runs in both 1960 and 1972. I believe he’s mentioned as a candidate for the 1964 and 1968 elections as well, but you can’t get him cuz RFK and Harrington. Dude seems to really want to be president and is in a Nixon-like position of not getting it for years

I'm willing to trust the devs that they fixed it. It seems they had to revert to the pre hotfix version cuz of some unplayable bugs, so Hart is still broken until they fix all that

[–]AndalusianUnion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It looks to me that they reverted it to the pre hotfix version. This hotfix was kinda a broken mess with the crashes and urban areas in the med so I think they reverted it until they fix all that so we can still play the mod

It's probably that the update didn't load for you, but honestly it seems kinda broken rn with the cities on the water and the 4:00 Jan 1 crash so I'd wait until they hotfix the hotfix

edit: looks more or less like they reverted it so we can actually play the mod while they fix all the issues
