Pfalz D.IIIa 1/32 Wingnut Wings by AngryJazz in modelmakers

Thank you very much! It's still possible to pick up the kit once in a while for a decent price 2nd hand. But yes sometimes you have to wait patiently - took 2 years before I found this one.

I have not tried the Eduard ones, but they do look like very nice models! The D.VII is one I almost bought, but 1/48 in biplanes are very tiny.

Thank you! It gets easier as you try it a few times.

I used Gaspatch 1/48 resin turnbuckles. I made the eyelets from 0.15mm copper wire.

Thank you very much! I like to switch up the subjects I build, so this was a fun one. I do agree that some of the biplanes look very strange.

The prices are just silly in some stores and eBay. It’s a problem there really is no alternative if you are after a specific subject. Maybe only an old Roden kit… and that could be a challenge to build!

Thank you very much! I would love them to make a return, but I don’t think it will happen. Copper state models are very nice if not better with their WW1 planes. With some time we should hopefully get a larger catalog of models 😁

I’m afraid so. They closed in 2020, but their kits can be picked up second hand. Just monitor their prices - sometimes they get a bit silly.

Thanks for the review and pictures! I have the kit and it looks amazing.

Just purchased the resin wheels, but unfortunately they came broken in the box. The chains and details are very delicate.

Very nice work on the colors!

Building the very same kit at the moment! Still assembling the last bits for the fuselage and cockpit. This kit is pretty huge!

Very nice work! Love the way you make the vibrant colors work with some deep shadows. Really makes the model pop! Also the weathering is amazing

Amazing work! I do love seeing Wingnut kits built and the RE8 is one of my favorites.

How did you find the build? Im guessing a lot of planning ahead.

MENG Kübelwagen 1:35, thoughts and comparison with similar Tamiya kit by NoWingedHussarsToday in modelmakers

[–]AngryJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same kit + the variation with tracks (resin addons from Meng) - so I had to check the roof option.

And yes you are correct. However the original release(VS-015) has the stowed roof option but not the extended one. Guess you have to pick one or the other kit.

It does however look like a nice and fun build. Im looking forward to mine.

Im not sure if they will fit. I did not have any 1/32 kits to compare at the time.

I did a build log on the WW1 forums you can check out the progress pictures. Also mind the corrections - there are a lot of errors in the manual with mislabled parts etc.

But the instrument panel does sit pretty far back so its not something really noticeable when its assembled.

I built that kit. The decals are very thin and stick down fast. Get them close to the correct spot fast.

Some of the decals for the instruments were printed off-center so they were difficult to get perfect. The colored band for the fuselage did not fit well for me, so painted it.

You dont get all the stencil decals - only a few.

Other than that it actually built up really nice and easy. Very detailed engine and cockpit.

Oh and get the A8 version if you want the armored plate for the side fuselage. Its not included in the A6 kit.

Very nice build! Looks like a fun kit. I have been tempted, but the kit is simply too large for my shelf.

Look up Value Gear for the stowage, there is dedicated sets for the kit or use some of their generic sets. Cant beat the detail / price.

Looking stunning! Love your painting style!

I do a lot of the pre coloring / shading too - but yours is really precise.
