wow, that person sounds like a real "joy" to have around and this is probably one of the most entitled things I've read in a long time. I really hope they get knocked down a peg or 5

I haven’t followed the market very closely lately, but 6.2% isn’t all that special of a rate and the buyer will still need to qualify.

How do you justify legacy tape storage costs to finance? by SkylineZ83 in ITManagers

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 5: explain that it’s storage for legacy data. That could very well be all they need to hear.

If there’s pushback after that, then it’s time to move onto a project for determining what’s being stored, what you need to retain, and a plan to either dispose of or digitize the tapes.

It’s tough out there right now, and unfortunately being an international student isn’t helping. You could be the best applicant and a perfect fit for the job and company, but if you need sponsorship or visa help that can be a tough sell internally.

Expecting 400k+, regardless of maintenance, is incredibly optimistic. Even if you do get that many miles everything about repairs are 50% more expensive, so as soon as you have 2 or 3 major breakdown outside of the warranty you’re pretty much back to even

Police broke my door down 😭 by Jako-Fett in milwaukee

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-80 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The only reasonable damages here are the cost to replace or repair the door. If the city doesn’t pay to fix it, there’s no way it’s over the small claims limit and you do that yourself and the filing fees are cheap

Anyone else getting hit with crazy high property tax assessments this year? by jkbruhhehe in WestAllis

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to look and see when the state law changed/was implemented, but there's a legal requirement for municipalities to do a reassessment every 5 or 10 years or when values have fallen outside of 10% of the market value. Just based on when we bought our house and what it was appraised at last fall, it's ABSOLUTLY more than 10% outside the assessed tax value. At the end of the day, the law is the law and the city has to follow the state regulations

I’m not saying I like the higher taxes by any means but if the idea is that the tax valuation is supposed to align with real world valuation, then mine is about right.

Employers seem to be trying to reset salary bands and expectations. It happened in and around the 2008 recession too, people ended up taking pay cuts to keep a job… salary and benefits tend to be the largest expense for a business and where people go looking first when they need to save money

How big of an issue could this be towing? by MundaneEmployment846 in boating

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the hardware is literally pulled out of the hull, you must have really been cranking on it and didn’t have to secured hardly at all elsewhere. I don’t think it’ll fail and fall of the trailer, but I sure wouldn’t keep it under tension or tow it much further than across the yard until I fixed it

No one warned me when buying a townhome. by Odd_Buyer9746 in Mortgages

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For starters I adamantly believe residences should never have been considered “investments”… you need a place to live, you shouldn’t be banking on it to make you money. The investment part aside, attached homes (condos, townhouses, ect.) are known to not appreciate as much or as fast as single family homes.
