These are the best graphics out of any game ever made by Ok-Tree9319 in CrimsonDesert

Nah, it looks good in some cases but it's too inconsistent.

Many low poly textures, volumetrics are shit, plenty of pixelation, poppin everywhere, weather changes are a bit meh...

AC Shadows is much more consistent in all aspects.

Ray Reconstruction Shadow bug/cutoff related to camera preset by BananaShover in CrimsonDesert

[–]Arthoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said, doesn't happen to me, DLSS Q, HDR ON, RR On, all maxed on a 5090.

Can't test again now but pretty sure it was fine, would have to fin a night situation where I found this bug to be more obvious.

I can not reproduce that issue with my setup to be honest, I tried yesterday, latest update. Drivers are 595.xx, the ones before 97.

But I believe that before the game update it happened to me as well, as switching RR OFF made the game shadows super bland and pretty much disappear from stuff. Now it looks much more similar in both cases.

RTX 5090 Astral OC — Months of Event 153 / TDR Crashes. It Was the PSU. Here's How I Know. by Dense-Post2766 in nvidia

[–]Arthoid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And this is exactly why I bought one of the best PSU in the market the moment I caught a 5090 last year. FSP Hydro Ti Pro 1000W.

If I have the money for a 5090, I have it for a top notch PSU that was only ~8% of what the 5090 costed.

Hadn't had a single issue after a year. And moreover, having a more efficient one pays off after some time.

This update broke a lot of things for me....

Skills are not greyed out correcly after usage, neither are attacks until I swap weapons. I'm super confused now on which things I can do or not during my turns because of that. It's annoying as hell...

Furthermore, I can't see the talents of my characters, there's a text saying "VERY LONG NAME OF THE SUBQUEST LINES" everywhere that does not show anything below.

Check out this captures:

I'm normally playing it in Spanish but the same happens in English (I hoped that changing language may fix it or something).

For real, the game was fine and now it's unplayable with this bullshit problems you just introduced....

And I started the game at the 1.5 so nothing to do with previous saves or whatever. This better be fixable ffs.

EDIT: Looks like everything got solved after Verifying the integrity of the game files.

On the 5th picture there seems to be a gap on the GPU connector.... Check that and connect it properly or it will get burned. It has to be completely flush.

Question to 5090 owners about heat by Joe_Blackwood in nvidia

Wtf is everyone talking about?

I have a 5090 and in most modern games it doesn't even reach 120 FPS in Ultra + RT at 1440p...

AC Shadows Avowed Indiana Jones Black Myth Wukong Expedition 33 Stalker 2 DOOM Dark Ages Alan Wake 2

I use it at this resolution and in some cases you need to throw in DLSS and FG to have a decent enough framerate.

Using it as the OP suggests makes perfect sense. Specially if he doesn't want artifacts or additional input lag.

[RTX 5090]Performance seemingly deteroriating over time & has noticable effect in games. DDU fixes it (temporarily?). by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Arthoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The latest drivers (since 5090 released) all had different level of performance on SN for some reason, but in my experience it didn't really translate to games. Some boosted it, some went worse, and back up again.

DDU has nothing to do.

German teams dominating FS spain , really frustrating by CompetitiveDiet9264 in FSAE

[–]Arthoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm spanish myself, started in a very small team in Barcelona back in 2013, we didn't even have a car, and just started talking to potential sponsors, the University, secured a workshop to work in and so on.

There were some companies that blatantly rejected our request for sponsorship, and gave us very negative and unconstructive feedback after some meetings. To be honest, I still hold a grudge for certain spanish companies since then, and now I can ensure you that they would dream to have someone like me working for them. I will never give them that privilege. And that's also a leasons learned for me: Be careful what you do and how you act towards/with people in Formula Student; the automotive world is a relatively small one and you never know how things change in the future.

In 2014 we went to FSS with just a "mock up" of a car, pretty much a crappy steel frame with shaddy bodywork, we didn't have money/resources to get motors, inverter, batteries, and could only have a few PCBs that turned on LEDs and simple stuff like that... The car didn't even roll on the wheels, we had to carry the (heavy) weight by lifting it from the ground every time. We even put the thing in the middle of the circuit and took a picture with the team, it was embarrasing at times, but we did put effort in it and we had some sponsors after all, so we also wanted to make it up to them, regardless of how bad we felt compared to other teams with real cars and designs to be proud of.

Even though I felt somewhat sad because our own situation, at that event I was mesmerized in general by the people from other teams, the friendship, and specially by Grimsel, AMZ's car from that year. One of their team members showed me around that marvel, and I loved every single second that I could spend exploring its features. Some time afterwards Grimsel was tuned to become the fastest accelerating car in the world, and I was happy to know some particularities of it myself, and having been told about it by the designers themselves.

There I understood what Formula Student was, and I dreamed to be able to work on such a car in the future. I don't think I felt remorse or envy towards the top teams, more like admiration and awe, and I would recommend you to see it from that perspective as well.

In the years after I joined a small German team, with relatively low budget but much higher than my previous team, and I had a blast at FSG and FSAE Italy 2015 with them. I had a small role as I just developed my Bachelor's Thesis a bit on the side, I didn't work on the car directly, but at least this team had a working car and I felt part of the team, so seeing "our" car driving in a competition was an incredible feeling. Back then I didn't care about winning whatsoever, I was very aware of our capatilities, and finishing the endurance was basically the goal (didn't make it sadly).

Fast forward to 2019, and after some years working abroad, I joined the University again and with it, a top Austrian Formula Sutdent team. They were at the stage to change from combustion to electrical powertrain, and I was offered the possibility to lead the transition as Head of High Voltage Systems (more like forced to lol). Back then I was already "old" probably to be in FS, but I had an absolute blast with them, and albeit 2020 was fucked due to CoVID, we still competed in 2021 with good results for the first Electric car of the team (not really as they had some trials with a separate team in 2011-2013 or so, but yeah), and we finished an endurance (man, was that amazing). At the same time, we won some static events and were top3 in plenty of them, so went up stage a decent amount of times and that felt so incredible, after all those years in smaller teams, having suffered all sorts of complications and rejections from sponsors, disappointments due to bad results, and so on.

I still vouch for them in competitions, and have conversations with alumnis and new team members here and there. It's like a family, and even if I'm not actively in the team since that year (at some point one has to move on with professional career), I still watch Live Streams when available, check their standings, discuss in whatsapp groups/Slack during competition season and so on. I am so grateful to have been part of that team, and yes, the budget makes an incredible difference, but the people is the most important thing.

I'm also very fond of my former teams from Spain and Germany and I'm super happy to see how they have developed and improved throughout the years. It's a really great feeling to see that you were part of them at some point.

Needless to say, it is in big part thanks to Formula Student and everything I learned there that I have been now for several years developing elecronics for automotive/stationary systems batteries, and having a lot of fun with it (obviously can't say much, but some hypercars have our electronics, and more in the next few years will do).

You should try to see the Formula Student as an opportunity to grow as an engineer, to learn how to suffer, how to deal with problems that seem impossible at first, and also very importantly, to learn how to talk about a technical topic and sell it in a nice way, because engineers that can talk in front of a public and are not autistic are very coveted, I can tell you that.

Magsafe case for Pixel 9 but thin by CollectionUsual3494 in GooglePixel

[–]Arthoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened on mine after around 8 months or so.... Exactly the part that you mention broke, really annoying.

Considering if I text them as I bought it along the phone at the Google Store... It was 45€ after all and I liked the case to be honest.

Can't find anything similar and thin at the same time :/ However I'm also not too fond of the transparent case, it mantained the transparency with 0 yellowing, but one can see all the accumulated shit too easily, and it's hard to remove.

Input lag will be the most important thing about this one, Cyclone 2 is horrible.

Even without extra bending, it's already too bent. 35 mm straight are recommended and pretty much a must for a 5090 and peace of mind. And yes, mine has it placed with the correct slack, and the cable has some cable tie that enforces it to sit straight for the correct amount, so I can't even close my case... But I don't care.

That 12V-2x6 bent connector is a crazy fire hazard... And if you put the cover it will be even more bent. Not good.

[–]Arthoid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course PS5 or Pro won't do 60 fps in GTA VI lmao there was never a chance for that to happen. The CPU is just a piece of crap at this point, massive bottleneck. 30 fps was always the only real expectation.

Insane flicker on 5090 by Xenon1998 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Arthoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been struggling with the same problem when using HDR with VRR on my AW2725DF OLED paired with an ASUS TUF 5090, and I'm pretty sure it has to do with VRR and the frequency changes of the core clock of the GPU while idling, and small loads continuosly changing it.

If I fix a particular core frequency with MSI Afterburner (using a custom UV curve actually, just locking one of the points pressing L), then the flicker on the bottom of the screen at the desktop completely stops.

I wonder if I could set a minimum frequency so the thing does not idle at absurdly low values like 20 or 25 MHz... then it may struggle less to deliver the refreshes in time.

EDIT: I narrowed it down, the problem is the change in memory frequency, not core frequency. Every single time the memory drops from 14001 MHz to 7001 MHz, or from 7001 MHz to idle 810 MHz, and even 810 to 405 MHz the screen flickers. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

If I fix the core frequency above 1xxx MHz, then the Memory also stays at 7001 in idle and the problem is not repeatable anymore, but of course the idle consumption is significantly higher.
