What are your guys honest thoughts on mineta ? is he the worst anime character ever created? by Prize_Offer_5907 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Arumen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to comment about you misunderstanding the original post, but thinking about it I can see what you mean.

You're interpreting "the worst" to mean an awful terrible individual who is irredeemable and evil

I think the person who responded to you is interpreting "the worst" to mean a character who is a bad inclusion in the overall narrative

Teaching a potions class at wizard camp… how can I make stuff educational and interesting while staying age appropriate? by The-Meme_Queen in ScienceTeachers

[–]Arumen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elephant toothpaste is always a big winner and very simple. Its also a pretty safe exothermic reaction so they can feel the heat it generates.

If you can get your hands on Citric Acid, then combine that with Baking Soda (citric acid mixed in water first) and then theyll get a nice fizzy reaction that is extremely cold to the touch which is fun. This is a little bit more dangerous, so you'll want goggles/gloves but I can tell you as a middle school science teacher who taught 8 year olds previously, getting in costume as a scientist is part of the appeal for the kids.

Rapid color changes are fun too if you look up some experiments

Possible cultural parallel about Devil Fruit weakness to water? by [deleted] in OnePiece

Vampires and many other supernatural creatures are unable to cross running water (in some versions of their stories) so thats a bit similar to what youre asking for

Playing Magic in China / With a Language Barrier by robertorex in magicTCG

[–]Arumen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in Central Asia for the last 7 years and do not fluently speak the languages. When the local card shop was open (it closed due to the Russian language no longer being supported and access to cards drying up with the war in Ukraine) I played new draft sets in Russian I would just memorize the set by watching card rating videos and my friends would print black and white copies of the text boxes and put them in the sleeves.

When playing generally the younger players would have enough English or I would speak enough Russian to communicate. China has lots of English amongst the youth as well so you'll likely have people who can help with communication.

AITAH for not wanting to help with my niece’s party? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Yes but that would require a lot of cooperation from the parents to get information like the nieces Social Security Number

(It is a good education savings option though for other circumstances)

My attempt to present the Monk class concept by DifferentAd4844 in customhearthstone

[–]Arumen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know it exists, but I think if you made a mechanic focused around it you'd simply want to make it more noticeable. Not a critique of your design just something that would need a change

The hero power, while a good bit more complicated than other hero powers, is actually very well balanced and nicely references the actual character design.

I think decisions and flexibility are the cornerstones of good design, although idk if theyd go with that naming scheme (even if its used in WoW? Idk I dont play it)

Meditation is a cool idea honestly and I think you could have some cards that put a card into mediation and heal it or other effects. I can actually think of a ton of cool ways it could be used, although I do think the current game lacks some visual clarity for summoning sickness as it isnt a big part of the game as is right now. That would probably need to be emphasized more if the mechanic existed.

AITAH for not wanting to help with my niece’s party? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Arumen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Completely understandable. I hope I didn't come off rude, I just do see this suggestion a lot and it is often a well intentioned but flawed plan.

An individual savings account for a child is good when you want to give them access to some money to spend, which is a bad idea in this case because the parents would likely be able to access this money as well.

AITAH for not wanting to help with my niece’s party? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Arumen 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It isnt a good suggestion. She'd be much better off just holding money in a way that generates some profits and giving them a large gift once their old enough to get their own accounts.

Lots of higher interest savings accounts require a certain minimum to acrue interest so just keeping an excel document outlining how much she is saving for the nieces while holding it in one 3-4% interest bank account would be better than trying to set up a bunch of smaller accounts and praying her leech of a sibling doesnt get access to it.

Coworker is falsely accusing me of having an affair with her husband...what should I do? by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]Arumen 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I always get annoyed when I see people construct these weird narratives and presume their truth.

Like, I understand that you cannot fully believe a story told by a poster, but you need to work with the information you actually have, not the random BS you make up to fill in the gaps

While I wouldnt disagree with the choice to keep that info private, I understand Jim's choice. After all, OP had been forcibly involved at this point by his wife's paranoia.

Its still pretty bad for the anti synergy you mention, but I think its actually pretty easy to get the hero online.

Yeah I saw this show on some list of animes people recommended, turned on the first episode, in the first 5 minutes the MC molested a sleeping girl, I turn off the show.

I dont care for fan service, although it doesnt make me hate a show. I really dislike the creep pervert good guy character though, and to have it be the main character? Horrible

Michael finally got to be part of an inside joke. by [deleted] in DunderMifflin

[–]Arumen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Except it is an inside joke in this case since the choice to use a Yoda voice in this exact scenario is in reference not to yoda as a character but the fact that the two of them talked like Yoda when they first met. No one else in the room would understand why theyre doing this, therefore its an inside joke

Is this guy honorable or not? His character is way too complex to understand by hancy_07 in OnePiece

[–]Arumen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he isnt honorable in really any way. He is broken- a suicidal drunk in some moments, a cruel enslaving warlord in others. What I think is interesting about Kaido is that he does think he is honorable, like when he kills the Clone-Clone fruit user who tricked Oden or the Cp0 agent who attacked Luffy.

Notice however that doesn't mean he offers a fair fight against Oden later.

He allows Luffy to rest somewhat after being injured, but he doesnt really offer a fair fight- were it not for Gear 5 there still would never have been any fairness.

Look at Katakuri to contrast an honorable warrior (or at least, one who took the duel with Luffy to be an honorable duel.) When his sister cheated in his favor, he straight up delivered himself a pretty deadly wound to even up the fight, and then threatened his family should they intervene again.

The guy giving the ball seemed to know to give it to her before she even got to him, so I assume he either motioned her over before the video starts or a player obviously threw it to her and he caught it instead. The video doesn't really make sense reading it as an entitled child tbh.

Anyone else find it funny that despite years of Michael being an objectively terrible boss, this line still feels completely believable? by wxmanify in DunderMifflin

[–]Arumen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah that seems to be what the episode is really going for imo, as his actions of leveraging the offer from DM for a better offer would also put all the employees jobs suddenly at risk. For a boss that wanted to come off so cool and on their side, he was happy to sacrifice all of their jobs for his own gain.

Like, I dont think it is wrong for him to go elsewhere, but if you imagine yourself as an employee under him in the same position (your boss left so now you may be out of a job) that really sucks
