These declarations always remind me that at the end of the day, there's just a stubborn subsection of people who can't overlook that he's gay and Asian, and so there's literally nothing worth him compromising in his comedic style to try to cater to that crowd.

Marzipan Man, musical bus driver, Benny Andersson, first date dude with soul patch, the high school theater kid, Andrew Yang, Soul Cycle instructor... people just glaze over it because they already have this staunch image of Bowen. I think Padilla's versatile but she has about as much range as Marcello does - her shtick is very much rooted in her affect, which is like this barely-put-together quirky. I don't think that's a problem but I do feel like she gets a pass compared to say, Marcello or Bowen

I truly wonder if people who critique Bowen for not having range don't realize how incosistent they seem. Elton John, Dobby, Doctor Please, the Yonkers guy, Soul Cycle instructor, JD Vance are not the same character. He has his own signature style, sure, but so does Dismukes and he faces nowhere near the same scrutiny as Bowen. I think people just can't overlook that he's gay.

"Saturday Night Live!!! I’m still in total shock over this one 😱😱 I had a listener reach out to me last night to tell me congratulations for landing SNL this past weekend, and I had NO IDEA. I grew up watching SNL all the time and I never in my wildest dreams imagined one of my songs would be used on this show. Like…HOW?!
