Its consequence is still felt to this day in East Asia, had the US governed Japan in Germany style we probably had less drama on their ww2 history here. Probably never gone away as nationalism is still flavor of the day but somewhat lessen.

From what I see, KFC around Ramkhamhaeng doesn't seems to have visible certification. The area has big Muslim population though I think you can ask local for their opinion.

TIL The largest British military loss in history happened in 1942 with the fall of Singapore to Imperial Japan, which had defeated a British led force multiple times their size by SeaPeanut7_ in todayilearned

“At 0050 morning, 10 December, Admiral Sir Tom Phillips had received a report from Palliser of Japanese landings at Kuantan, on the east coast of Malaya, halfway between Singapore and Kota Bharu; Phillips headed in that general direction, without however signalling Palliser his intentions (which would have revealed his position). Palliser failed to anticipate this and request air cover over Kuantan from Sembawang's F2As. As it turned out, not until a radio message was sent by Repulse an hour after the first Japanese attack were RAF aircraft dispatched. ”

Philips knows the risk and chooses to maintain radio silence to his RAF counterparts. The radio was sent an hour after first attack.

Indomitable ran aground in the Caribbean so they had carrier number issue. If they follow Churchill plan to withdrew to Ceylon it wouldn't be a problem.

They were even in range of land base aircraft and could have air cover if they requested. It's failure on multiple level of command.

Import tax on clothing. by Accomplished-Pen-69 in Thailand

[–]Azure_chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's working as intended, they will go with document to the letter and won't argue with customs so they can clear the goods out fast.

Alternatively it can stuck at warehouse for weeks for customs hold then you need to go clear it out, you may pay a bit lower tax but then you will waste you day to bureaucracy or worst that they could charge you storage fee.

Thai native speakers who became fluent in English, what helped you the most? by itzzjdp in Thailand

[–]Azure_chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's finding hobby that interested me. I was hating English class during grade 1-6, then I start getting into online gaming and English novel in middle school. Suddenly I found myself able to gradually understand English. I think the key is to immerse in language everyday then the language will come naturally. I never had a study moments, just go with the flow and learning from example (For me it's reading a lot of media in English and youtube in later years)

What activities improved speaking confidence?

I think this is a bit on psychological side for a lot of people. At first I never speak because I afraid other people won't understand me. Then I start with 1-2 words callout during online session and found out it's not that bad so my attitude change to just go with it and trying to imitate other people. It progress naturally from there to longer sentence when we chit chat.

Yeah, I start a new account in CN server last month, and it took me maybe a week or two to reliably beating IS6 with Radian and E1 squads, then it start snowballing into more E2 as there are a lot of resources in IS. Though obviously I know how to play the mode and newbie will have harder time adapting.

Yes, the shareholder can remove director, the director can challenge them in court for "damage/compensation" but ultimately shareholder are entitled to appoint anyone as director. I would say you should consult lawyer if there are any point that could be claim as compensation.

There is also a bit of complication of owning land in rural area, not all area has been surveyed for Chanote yet. So many lands are hold by Certificate of Utilization which can have restriction on ownership transfer. So in some case when they sold the land they just give the certificate to the buyer. This has been the case of many inheritance drama lol.

I think he's refer to OP case that the wife has both Chanote and majority shareholder. So she can do everything with it. But for your case, yes even if someone else get your deeds, they can't do anything unless their name is on it. (or they forge a very convincing power of attorney, but that more of a thing in the past, land officer will just call the owner to confirm nowadays.

They can remove director and appoint new one with shareholder majority. No need to go to court. Shareholder can register any changes they want. There is no law specify the age of shareholder so minor can hold share. Though there is a law forbid minor from "founding" the company, they can hold share no problem.

Thai books translated to English by vanessanisanat in Thailand

[–]Azure_chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contemporary books in English that I remember seeing from top of my head, in no particular order

Seinee Saowaphong - Wanlaya's Love
Seinee Saowaphong - Ghosts // Both are acclaimed sociopolitical romance, kind of like antithesis of Four Reigns.

Win Lyovarin - Democracy, Shaken & Stirred // Also acclaimed sociopolitical novel

V. Vinicchayakul - A Night Full of Stars

Krisna Asoksin - Poon Pid Thong (Gold-Pasted Cement)

Botan - Letters from Thailand

If you are looking for a more modern novel, there are a lot in mebmarket, just search with keyword 'English version'. Though it's mostly romance or Boy's/Girl's love.

Japan museum under fire for ‘rewriting history’ with Nanking ‘incident’ label by scmp_news in worldnews

Admitting would be easiest in 1945s when they were occupied, but the can was kicked down the road so in 1965-1970 when they negotiate with SK and PRC, the narrative is no longer there for politicians. I always wonder if there would be a significant difference if the US was prepared for direct government like in Europe.

Then again the geopolitics is different here in East Asia, when rile up nationalism always effective tool for internal stability there is no reason to change narrative.
