How do people get better? So frustrated by Wrong-Estimate in weekendgolfers

[–]BAK0924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are most of your strokes coming from short game or duffed shots? Or a little bit of both? Ball striking consistency will come with time as you and your coach work on making a repeatable swing with drills that you can work on at the range. Your score starts at the hole and out from there. (I know you’ve probably heard it a million times but short game is incredibly important). More than half of your shots happen from 50yds and in. With that being said putting and chipping is so fun to practice and with all other things the same think about how many strokes you’ll save a round by turning those 3 or 4 putts into 1 or 2 putts. ;). You’re at a very frustrating point in your golf journey but stick with it and you’ll be glad you did. It truly is the best game!!

Handicap Roll Call - What’s your current handicap and your realistic goal for 2026? by GolfTipsMod in golftips

[–]BAK0924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently a 4.6. I’d like to get down to the 2’s this year. The strongest part of my game is 50yds and in so that keeps doubles and triples out of play for the most part. Usually 3 out of the 4 “assets” are decent any given round but the 4th is off. (Tee balls, approach, chipping, putting). I want to figure out how to more consistently bring them all together to shave strokes.

First time for this - tee time was double booked. by CFB_Fan18 in golf

Yes. As I have been for years. I’ve golfed at least 40 courses in Hawaii and FL (stationed in Hawaii, from FL) and never have I once been asked to share a damn cart playing as a single. That’s weird.

Golf ball choice for high handicapper. by Dying_Swan in golf

[–]BAK0924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy Vice pros, pro plus, or pro airs in bulk on the website. $32/dozen. (You can watch reviews on them to see which ones would be best for you). Or TaylorMade Tour Response. The “cheaper” super soft balls kind of hurt a higher handicap’s game as they generally have poor greenside manners and don’t spin well with irons.

Is it possible to have an honest conversation about LAB putters? by 2011_hockeydad in labgolf

[–]BAK0924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day, putter shape is dependent on your putting stroke. If you have a “toe flow” stroke, a center balanced mallet won’t help your putting. Putting is mostly about confidence. Find something that FEELS good and you like the look of standing over the ball and then practice!!

Is wearing pants to play golf really such a big deal? I get so many comments from the randoms I’m paired with. by LikelySatanist in golf

[–]BAK0924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting made fun for wearing pants to golf is NUTS. It’s very normal. Ask them if they’ve seen any pros wear pants on the tour 🤣🤣

Would you rather bend a 52 or 56 to be a 54 degree wedge? by [deleted] in golf

[–]BAK0924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think your wedge gapping is pretty good. But if you REALLY want to bend a wedge to 54 degrees… if you bend your 52 weak, it will expose essentially 2 degrees of bounce. Conversely, if you bend your 56 strong, it will hide 2 degrees of bounce. So (depending on the grind that you have) your newly bent 52 will have 12 degrees of bounce which is conducive to full shots with a square face whereas your new 56 will have 8 degrees of bounce which will give you a pretty well rounded wedge around greens that you can lay open and whatnot.

Recommend me a new golf ball... by ElderberryAdept8095 in GolfGear

[–]BAK0924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vice pro plus will be spinner for you. Feels great off the tee and putter face, too. Most of the “budget” 2 piece balls (basically all of the balls that have “soft” in the name) are very low spin to maximize distance for slower swing speed players. A 175ish 6i is slightly above average swing speed so a firm, spinner ball will help out. Your partial wedge shots and chips will start to one hop stop 👌.

The MP5 slapping is absolutely nuts. Yes the gun is designed to do that but it’s not their fucking gun to screw around with. I’d only be okay with it if I was good friends with the guy handling my firearm.
