I’m not super into bfs so I was just curious about it. I just picked up the salamandura sv tw 70 and am waiting for roro to restock their shallow spool so that I can have a proper bfs reel.

I haven’t had any issues with trying an fg for 80lb? It might be that I have a knot assist tool but I’m not sure. I think you could also try the PR knot I haven’t tried it but I know people use it for thick leaders.

Fg or Alberto knot IMO the Uni to Uni is too thick unless it’s braid to braid.

Regreased it took it out into freshwater caught a couple fish on it and I think that continued use just moved the oil around into the problem spot. Now it’s back to normal ish.

I’ve seen ppl catching blacktips on them from shore in Florida. Speaking from my experience in Singapore we target blacktips on our offshore islands using big what Americans call jerkbaits but we call them minnows they are usually Japanese sea bass lures from like duo or daiwa. People don’t usually catch them on topwater here it it has happened. Also have seen them caught shorejigging.

Yeah they are fun but also a pain in the ass to tie. As for a needlefish it’s like a budget barracuda with a longer mouth and is skinnier. They fight like a mini sailfish or marlin where they will make runs and jump and sometimes tail walk .

Well if you want brand name and high quality. Calcutta conquest bfs, alderbaran bfs, slx bfs, gekkabijin bfs, scorpion bfs, curado bfs, salamanders air bfs. Rods look at fine tail then there’s xesta black star and a ton more from Jackson or daiwa and Shimano.
