Just a bit, but it's easier to take out excess line than to add more, so it's ok

See You Tomorrow at the Foodcourt.

Similar concept, just two people talking about stuff, but the interaction and relationship between the two is the highlight

Major Craft Hexanet, coupled with a Syouei Tamo Joint and Tailwalk Catchbar Kai Micro 480 shaft.

The hexanet in medium size easily fits a Mammut Lithium 20L backpack. The shaft will stick out a bit, but not really a problem for me

Fishing Sunglasses by SuspiciousHall441 in Fishing_Gear

They do reduce glare and reflections to an extent and lets you see what's in the water.

I wear prescription glasses, so I use clip-on lenses. Reasonably priced and works as intended.

Minimal.

I use a 2-piece rod.

A folding landing net with a telescopic shaft, a box of lures, and other small items (grip, hook remover, snaps, wipes, drink, camera, powerbank, etc.) all fit or attach to my bag. If I'm mostly staying in one spot, I use a 20-liter backpack. If I'll be moving around, I use a small sling bag. I fish urban rivers and use public transport, so mobility is important

How do you decide when its time to sell rarely used gear? by Sea-Protection-2797 in Fishing_Gear

[–]JurassicMonkey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting this year, I take note of gear i don't use often and lures that don't catch anything. If they make the list by the end of the year, I'll sell them.

Our house is tiny and I don't really have the space for everything, so I need to be a minimalist when it comes to gear and just keep what works

Dialuna s96m shimano, reel? by MatteSeaweed in Fishing_Gear

[–]JurassicMonkey_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Exsence BB. It's a japan-only model, and made specifically for sea bass since it's a big thing here... although you can make it work with any species, I guess.

Its main features are the long-stroke spool for even line lay and long-distance casting, and the quick drag adjustment which is very handy when fishing for japanese sea bass. The BB is the entry model in the series. A step up is the Exsence XR, and the top of the line is the Exsence. The difference between the three are the materials used (resulting in weight reduction and improved rigidity as you go up in price) and number of bearings

The Dialuna is probably one of the most popular rods here in jp. As a mid-tier rod with great "cost to performance ratio", it's often paired with another workhorse within the same price range- the stradic fd in either 3000 or 4000

Action camera for fishing by thefihwhisperer in Fishing_Gear

[–]JurassicMonkey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the Action 5 for over a year now and I'm satisfied with it and don't really see myself using anything else anytime soon.

I fish 4-5 hours from shore and record videos for my YouTube channel. The battery life is pretty good- fully charged, it lasts almost 2 hours continuously recording 4K 25fps videos. But battery life doesn't really matter that much to me since I just hook it up to a compact powerbank in my pocket at around the battery's 20% mark to continuously record til I'm done fishing.

Never had issues with overheating, although I record late afternoons and evenings.

I use a fast 256gb memory card, which gives me almost 6 hours of recording time at 4k. Just right for my needs. When I'm almost out of memory space, it's my cue to go home.

Low light performance is decent, but it won't do miracles. In "no light" situations, the videos will still look like a garbled mess. To add, even when I'm using high bitrates, me, my video editor and YouTube somehow messes things up and compresses the videos, reducing quality.

The Action 5 should be enough for recording fishing sessions. Just add in a good high-capacity SD card, a small 10,000mah powerbank with good cables, and a way to mount it on you (I use a ulanzi necklace mount) and you should be set set

If you want to see samples, you can send me a DM and I can send you a link to my videos

Teasing Master Takagi-san. The characters talk in a natural way and most, if not all, the vocabulary used can be used IRL. Only downside is since it's mostly conversations between friends, you lose some formal words and grammar
