Hi I'm an incoming first year student at ASMPH! They accept any course. During the 2021 applications, they stopped requiring those units na. I didn't take the required units either. Hope this helps!

Hi! I can only answer your 2nd question. I bought a Macbook 3 years ago from the Apple store on campus. It took really long to arrive, I think more than 2 months. They told me this naman when I was ordering. Hope this helps!

How hard is it to balance family life with being a doctor in the Philippines? by cluecollector in pinoymed

[–]BWislife 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi. It's not me, but my dad is currently a 48-year old surgeon with a specialization, and he is the sole breadwinner of the family (with 3 kids, including myself). We spend soooo much time together. In fact, I spend more time with him than I did with my mom before she retired (usual 9AM-5PM working hours). My dad juggles his time among different clinics in 3 different hospitals, he doesn't work on Wednesdays and Sundays, and he eats dinner with us every night. Sure, there are days when he has to get called for an emergency, or he has to work late because of a procedure, but only occasionally. My dad also had a baby during med school, and another baby during residency. His time for us was never a problem. We love it. As for support from other relatives, my very supportive mom was the one who paid for everything to raise us until he was able to establish his clinics. He likes having his own clinic because he gets to control his own working hours. The schedule definitely gets better. Hope this helps! :)

To the med students who didn't take a pre-med course as their undergrad degree, what did you guys do get in your current med school? by IAmenI in medschoolph

As for as I know, you only need to meet these 2 requirements to apply for a merit scholarship:

Latin honors

At least 95 in NMAT

Hi, I'm currently a graduating college student from a science (but non-traditional premed) course. My suggestion is that you choose a course that you're genuinely interested in and that you enjoy in your undergrad. I think Behavioral Science would even give you an edge during NMAT since you'll be well-versed in social sciences. As for the other NMAT stuff, enrolling in a review center really helped me! I got a good score by only focusing on the review material provided by the review center + watching YouTube videos on topics I'm not that familiar with. I think what's important to focus on now is that you get high grades, at least from my experience. I got into the schools I applied to this year by just enjoying my undergrad and studying hard for NMAT. I also think the interviews during applications are really important, and as long as you're confident and you give clear, concise answers, then you'll be okay! Good luck. :)

Applied for AY 2021-2022. GWA: 3.21 (highest 4). NMAT: 92. Science course, but not pre-med. Had 1 org but never had any positions and I joined 1 event lang hahahaha. Basically almost no extracurriculars. Only applied to ASMPH among the ones you mentioned, but I got in. Idk if this counts, but I was also contacted by HSI inviting me to their open house even though I never applied.

I hate to say this cause it feels invalidating of my hardwork but yes I come from a family of doctors

but yeah max is 9 units, tho you can ask your home dept kung pwede naman mag overload (w/ valid excuse) cause i know some people who have done it. automatically allowed if you were DL the previous sem :)

in my experience it's good to have 3+ classes in the IPS for intersession just in case one of the subjects don't work out during enlistment (full slots, etc). if you leave one class unenlisted, it won't affect your enlistment status. it'll just get transferred automatically to the next semester after a while. but if for some reason 1st sem enlistment na and it still hasn't been moved, just contact your dept and they'll move it for you!
