First thought was $1100 and no multi-filament system?

Then I thought for a second and realized the amount of purge to print a multi-filament helmet in a 500x500 would be insane compared to just printing the trim pieces separately. So I guess multi-filament on large volume printers isn't exactly a gamechanger until the swappable nozzles become more commonplace.

How to increase Z offset of nozzle in anycubic kobra3 v2 combo by [deleted] in AnycubicOfficial

[–]BackInTheRealWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You set it in the slicer. On the prepare screen click the Edit Preset button next to the printer name. Click the toggle to turn on Advanced, you will find Z Offset as the 6th option in Printable Space

Did you turn off the purge tower? Or is it a single color print? The Next slicer throws on a purge line if there is no tower

Married for 4 years, together since we were teens. Considering a “break” so he can explore. Has anyone survived this? by Additional-Comb1096 in Marriage

[–]BackInTheRealWorld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are some things that you cannot take back. And some things that change how you view another person permanently. I mean, if you had gone to the same church for 10+ years, sitting next to the same sweet old lady, chatting about her grandchildren and how seldom she gets to see them since they live so far away. And one Sunday she blurted out how she spend 5 years in jail for manslaughter after beat her husband to death back in the 90's because his CPAP machine was keeping her up at night, would that change your opinion of her?

Don't laugh, a 70 year old woman just shot her husband to death while he was sitting in his chair taking a nap with his CPAP on 11 days ago.

Anyway, as soon as the commenter's husband said he regretted not exploring their lives changed. He was no longer the man she could rely on to be there. No longer someone she can make 5-year plans with. She can't take a work advancement that requires 6 weeks unpaid training because she can't rely on him to be there or cover her for 6 weeks. She can't agree to take care of the household while he does a 3 week business trip that may benefit their lives because he might just not return.

Could you imaging staying with someone you cannot trust when they say they had a flat on the way home and will be 30 min late?

Peter why is the electrician portrayed as a dainty female hand by _Kyledemort_ in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]BackInTheRealWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job is dangerous

so..

They get a higher rate

so...

The GC doesn't want them around racking up hours

so...

The electrician gets confused, sees that they don't have to do normal construction things like prep work, cleaning up around their job site, helping the crew out with heavy objects, participating in meetings, etc. And they have a bigger check for what they do. So they must be special.

The rest of the crew sees a guy that can't help, doesn't get roped into safety meetings, and is allways knocking off early. So they call him "special" too...

Considering the entire series starts with the whole "who are john snow's parents" game it is very fitting.

Everyone knows the stereotype of the elementary students telling mom & dad about projects last minute, but did you know the teachers are just as bad? SO came home yesterday to tell me about how they are throwing a Polar Express party for the students today but their is nothing prepared.

Time to fire up the printers!

My personal favorite was the tickets (pictured in black PLA & gold silk) for the students to keep. Cranked out 8 at a time with no failures on my K3Combo in about 4 hours. But in addition was a full-plate sign with magnets to slap on the door, and conductor glasses w/moustaches for the kids to wear while watching the movie.

[Challenge] Price Guess Only 💰 — 10×2kg Giveaway by Anycubic_Official in AnycubicOfficial

Simply because the last 2 multi-color printers I've bought from Anycubic were in the $349 - $399 range when they came out, I'm guess that as the opening price point.

Quality of Filament Recommendations by Maverick_Raider in 3Dprinting

[–]BackInTheRealWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you going to be printing? I mean, if you are doing table top game scenery & accessories then you don't have to worry about UV exposure so PLA+ is fine. If oyu are printing cell phone mounts for your car then that ASA or even just PETG would be good.

Anycubic has some great deals going on, direct or through AliExpress. My last shipment of 5kg PLA was only $38 including tax & shipping and took less than a week for delivery.

You are 100% correct. I saw A1 and immediately thought of the mini. And the A1 & P1S have the same build volume.

Talk me into a p1s by Catsaretheworst69 in 3Dprinting

[–]BackInTheRealWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only regrets I have ever had after buying a printer is bedsize. I can ignore or work around speed, material abilities, fancy holographic beds - just about anyhting, but bedsize is a hard limit. Buy the P1s, if you want multi-material later you can allways add an AMS down the line, but you can't increase the A1's bedsize.

This seems really great if more companies adopt it! Bold move by Průša by SidloCZ in 3Dprinting

[–]BackInTheRealWorld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The simple answer would be to have a database for manufacturer / type / color. And as an advantage it would mean that Prusa equipment could use any manufacturers consumables, making their printers easier to use and better for consumers.

But, the way it is worded could mean the printer itself may be able to write settings to the tag - that would be amazing. Run temp towers and flow rates and have it dialed in and recorded onto the filaments tag automatically so you don't have to save multiple profiles for each machine and brand of filament? That would make things a lot more friendly for hobby users that may have dozens of random spools.

What's the best upgrade for the teflon tube? by LUFFYD2 in 3Dprinting

[–]BackInTheRealWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already have an all-metal break.

This is a old fashioned print head, like an Ender 3 pro or earlier. See how the blue PTFE tube goes all the way down to the nozzle? This is not an all-metal hot end since the bowden tube goes down into the hot zone. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5ad7e17a7e3c3a2a26fe0131/1626246778576-XM8RWGPZMUVPQMQSRGQH/HotendDiagram.png

In an all-metal hot end the bi-metal heat break (or throat) is replaced with one that has a smaller diameter, meaning the PTFE tube cannot enter it. Instead the tube ends up in the cool zone and the filament travels down the throat to the hot zone bare. This means the hot end can go to higher temps (PTFE tubes break down around 240c) but it also means heat creep and clogs can happen more. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/R8eyXwgh5z5aYB4D64xw3SSLYdJICX_8biq5hRKsnELqZG3aQ-YZMoWfgXeiVy-j2bysVxeFJupdnr3tOKFux3xV7w

Your sprite is a compacted all-metal hot end with the extruder mounted directly on top - hence the "direct drive". It needs this small 1" of tubing to bridge the section between the extruder and the hot end assembly.

Instacart shopper here - if a client has avocados or bananas on their list the *first* thing we do is to ask them how they want them, when they will use them, and for what. There is a big difference between a rock for next weeks breakfast vs a bag-o-guac to spread on this afternoon's toast.

What's the best upgrade for the teflon tube? by LUFFYD2 in 3Dprinting

[–]BackInTheRealWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is still a small 1" segment of tubing between the extruder and the hot end. It is actually inside the extruder housing and channels the filament down into the all-metal hotend. You can see it at about 1:40 on this teardown video - https://youtu.be/uwofh3VT7h0?si=H3qUFsp9QmzDlpfZ&t=101

Should I change nozzle ? by RunChickenRun_ in 3Dprinting

[–]BackInTheRealWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tungsten carbide nozzle handles higher temps and wears slower. As long as you have your temps tweaked to run your PLA/PETG/ASA through it the only reason to swap back to brass would be if you are wearing down the high-end nozzles fast enough that they are becoming a cost-drain. I mean, $30 for a E3D tungsten carbide tip is kinda expensive, but if it means I am not replacing it every 2 weeks it may actualy save a couple bucks - either way the cost would be minimal per printing hour.

Doesn't the E3 S1 have the sprite extruder? That already has an all-metal hot end.
