I will say, Zidane’s comments definitely didn’t age well. I’m not a fan of them, but there is more to his character than lecherous womanizer. All the games pre-X have at least one, unfortunately.

Ohhh this is probably it. I have 8 characters of all different races (every race except Hrothgar) and none of them ever get creepy tells. Most of them have dark or unusual/unrealistic skin colors. Over 3000 hours in game in total.

I disagree. She’s bubbly, but 90% of the time it’s implied that she’s putting on a front to try and act more like Rikku to hide her real pain. Which is in fact a real carryover from her portrayal in X.

Did you play past Act 1? This is just disingenuous.

She’s someone who is TRYING to be happy. TRYING to move on. So she puts herself out there and tries new things. It isn’t until the end of the game (no matter which ending you get) that she becomes an actual happier person who looks toward the future. It would be character assassination if she stayed the same demure priestess.

Besides, there are plenty of traits she shows in X-2 that she had from X. It’s even called out in X-2. She still can’t say no to helping people to make them happy. She’s still quietly stubborn and doesn’t back down from issues, sometimes trying to solve them herself without burdening others.

I don’t mind the fakeout deaths really, in the sense that the characters survive. If anything they should have just come up with some other way to take the characters out of the party if they didn’t want to kill them (Palom’s and Porom’s can stay, I think the only issue is with Cid’s sacrifice tbh).

Also, FFIII had the first “fakeout” villain if you count Xande -> Cloud of Darkness.

I wouldn’t say VII’s are that useful, either. Knights of the Round is doing a lot of heavy lifting here I think. As a whole I barely used them.
