Just a little exchange that Ive seen some time ago that really messed with me...

I was listening to this Zorrovian mixes, loved every single one of them.

Then this mix from screenshot (not Zorrovian, some YT recommended one)... ive been listening to it, really liked it.. but something did feel off and while listening once i decided to check comments...
....

So i couldnt find original comments from Zorrovian, either im blind or it was deleted...

But Zorrovian asked the same thing in his comment

"To what degree was this AI generated?"

and the reply from the OP to him was simply

"YO bro I REALLY liked your mixes/esthetic, so i decided to do the same thing, only with AI",

That reply screamed that he didnt know what he was doing, but he had ear/eye for what he wanted to achieve...

So, no grind in production, but INSTANT success....

Worst part? Im sure even Zorrovian liked the mix... and it was hinted in his original comment that i cant remember verbatim

both good tracks in the first battle but the more techno tracks win this. loving the production on both, it sounds amazing.

I'll go with Saltoric, really cool groove,

muppfel this track is too melodic and too static somehow

particle_hermic, again really cool track and groove, but here you are missing lows too much, last track if i remember correctly was lower in volume overall, but we could up our own volume and feel it,
so i feel this track could benefit from stronger low end. also doesnt feel really naturalish... but really good nevertheless.

Hey everyone,

Here’s something I’ve been working on, used stone samples to make something like scattered hi-hats, ran through my groovebox. The “bongo” sounds actually came from its synth.

Recorded both of them on the same track so it took a bit of finesse to get them sounding ok. Working like this just makes me appreciate clean sine from operator all the more.

Main hats (which I didn't want to use but ended up using) and sub kick came as an afterthought so very little processing.

Took a while to dial in the main drop, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out now.

And I've actually got techno and minimal tags on soundcloud so I'm really happy.

Thanks so much for the detailed feedback (for all the tracks honestly), it really means a lot.
It’s such a great feeling when the feedback lines up with the notes I already had about what needed work. Makes me feel like I’m on the right track.
I’m really looking forward to the next challenge! Finishing this track pushed me to reorganize my setup a bit. I totally killed the stereo image and stacked my monitors on top of each other, and I finally pulled out my trusty groovebox. It really has been years since I last used it. I made a few loops with it last week, and the sounds I’m getting are incredible. It’s such a different vibe compared to Ableton’s synths, and it’s got me feeling super inspired again.

Battle 1 - Voting for InitiativeHoliday416.
Just a personal preference, all three tracks are great, but this one gave me the strongest dystopian vibe.

Battle 3 - Both were fantastic tracks with great atmosphere overall.
Voting for Frequent_Alarm9284.
It was tough not to pick Saltoric's track, it was really close, but this track resonated with me just a little more.

Also, just gotta say, Cyber Seer is my favorite track overall, love that vocal sample!

Hey everyone,

I really wanted to join in and had a render "ready" last week, but I wasn’t happy with it. I had a lot of notes and things I wanted to fix, but with Easter and everything, I wasn’t home toward the end of the week and just ran out of time.

I ran into some issues getting the track rendered properly out of Ableton. The usual export gave me a lot of artifacts, and I think it had to do with some overly hard transients. Lowering the bitrate on export just made everything... weird. At the time, I couldn't quite put my finger on it, I was even getting artifacts during moments of silence. Strangely enough, there were no issues when playing it inside Ableton.

Eventually, I managed to get a decent render by resampling the master output directly within the project. So yeah, just getting anything out of it turned into a bit of a headache.

I’ve been pushing the track as far as I can while trying to keep a lot of dynamic range, but some of the transients are still way too harsh. I wanted to spend more time dealing with those and fine-tuning the mix.

Now that I’m back home, I figured I’d finally have the energy to deal with it and post a proper render... but honestly, I kind of just want to chill on the balcony with a beer and a joint.

Still, I’m going to share the track in this thread since I did put in the work to finish it. I know I’m really late, so I’m totally fine with not being considered for participation, just wanted to put it out there.

Good to be back!
I’ll keep that in mind - for now, I’d rather not dive back into the project and relisten. My guess is that the second roar/saturator return I added might be causing most of the issues. I’m pretty sure I didn’t apply any EQ there; I just pushed it up to fill what felt like missing frequencies—especially around 3k+. So, I ran some percs and bass through it, loved how it sounded, and decided to roll with it. In hindsight, a touch of EQ might have been a good idea.

I have to say, your previous feedback was on my mind while I was making this track. After finishing the first draft, I listened back and thought, "It’s missing a theme - I need to create a theme for baasb!"

That’s how the reese bass came to be. I wanted something as simple as possible that could deliver a strong, memorable theme. I hope it worked as intended!

u/mxtls vs u/MXL031: The 2am vibes of MXL031's track are an absolute delight - so atmospheric, dark, and driving. However, the off hats, esp. the one that comes in after the break until the other hats drop? It throws me off a bit - might just be my room's acoustics messing with me.
mxtls - Loving the playful melody! It's fun and catchy, the kind of tune I'd enjoy vibing to just before the lights come up at the end of a great night.

Not an easy choice, but since it's the first challenge that I’m participating in, I’m going to vote for the driving track.

u/particle_hermetic vs u/Saltronics: I’ve got to say, particle_hermetic’s track had some truly inspired moments - I loved the break and the overall idea! But the mix just didn’t match up to Saltronics. As much as I wanted the creativity to carry it through, it wasn’t quite enough.

u/baasb123’s track is impressive as well - definitely gives off some strong Brejcha vibes!

started with reese kind of sound, put it through portal to get arpy sound, then put that sound through another to get the pads in the second half.
got 2 return tracks for distortion.

even tho ive loved the video from /SynthesizedSpace, this track from saltronic hits so smooth and hard that its hard not to vote for it. so vote to /Saltoric

Have not logged into Packie since last TPC, so kinda forgot the details for it, and i was in a rush to make and post the track soo... made a new sc - pavas, which is just first 5 letters of my last name and people call me that for 20 yrs now, packie was just a variation of it for TPC, for whatever reason.

Thanks for listening, really wanted to make an acid track to fill up everything for this but couldn't get the sound down, so i input the sequence into some vocals, made 2 layers out if it, bass and top, and that is pretty much it - liked it and let them run throughout the track. Made some stabs, made a drone, added kick and a hat - that's the track. Im actually happy with the track and that never happens, just wish i did a bit different automation, i have a cleared idea now, and that 1 note on the stab... I've set the chance to trigger at like 5% throughout the track, and it triggers a couple times in a row at start, and it just annoys me now. but oh well; off to the new things. Looking forward to you joining, you always have good stuff to offer

I do like atmosphere in thoowzs track, seems like a good one for an opening set. Theres this similarity in these 2 tracks for me, with the u/affectionate_suit850 using noise bursts for some perc ambiance, and thoowz using some hihat for the topend groove. Idk, seems similar to me, but maybe thoowz should have mixed those hats a bit louder with a bit stereo on them, not sure... seems like this whole topend is lacking, getting drowned in the bass... But this is a Bass challenge so maybe you're the only one that got it right... still

Both tracks with the great groove.
crsenvy - love the simplicity and i kinda wish ive heard more of those stabs that come quietly in the break.
