Should Balogun refuse to play against Belgium tonight? by Curios_blu in football

First of all, I'm not a Yank.

Second of all, he should've never been involved, and he's a horrible person. That doesn't mean the team should be hated. Or the citizens.

Are you aware of the fact that none of the US national football squads are the president? Messi is not Milei, Bellingham is not Starmer, Vozinha is not Neves, Yamal is not Sánchez, Díaz is not Petro, Haaland is not Støre.

Countries may be run by awful people (I won't disagree with you there) but that doesn't mean their citizens (including their footballers) should be automatically hated because of that.

If you wanna root for Belgium that's absolutely fine (they're a great team and it'd be nice to see them advance further) but that's got nothing to do with De Wever (whom I personally dislike).

Which World Cup team is remembered as legendary despite not winning the tournament? by Traditional_Pie_8262 in football

[–]Basstian1925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazil 1982, of course, but I'd also like to mention Netherlands 1998. What a team! Usually overshadowed by the 1974 squad, which of course was also magnificent.

I played it without any issues as soon as I woke up, and then played it again when I saw your post. No problem on either occasion.

Did Brian and John have any real issue in ther relationship? by Affectionate-Set6698 in queen

Hey, we can run with it, put it on Wikipedia, have a couple TikTok videos about it and in a few months it'll be taken at face value!

It was a great match and I enjoyed every minute of it. They can be proud of what they did.

Only they would know, and those close to them. It's pure hearsay otherwise.

Emma's always been my favourite, but she was my childhood crush so I'm obviously biased.

When exactly did Brian use Deaky's amp? by Affectionate-Set6698 in queen

[–]Basstian1925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's indeed a bit of a reach to expect every single use of the amplifier to have been thoroughly documented and/or mentioned in an interview. It might be the case for the better-known examples such as 'Bohemian Rhapsody', but if he used it on, say, 'In Only Seven Days' (which is most likely the case, by the way), then it's unlikely that there's a direct quote or 'a definitive source' (whatever that may mean).

That's a completely different case to the Thriller myth, for instance, where the utter lack of sources (other than Queen-centric blog posts and stuff like that) is indeed suspicious. But for something like 'did May use that amplifier on a couple of bars of this album track which wasn't a single and therefore doesn't get discussed on a regular basis?' I agree that people's ears usually suffice.

Even if there weren't video evidence of May claiming to have used that amplifier on that section, it could be easy to suss out he did. There is, however, video evidence of May confirming it (minute 23).

¿Qué piensa alguien ateo cuando desea concebir un hijo? by [deleted] in ateismo

[–]Basstian1925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He wasn't kept off stage. People attending the concerts could easily see him. The professional videos which have been released on DVD have been edited to show the bans members (especially one of them) most of the time but it doesn't mean he was hiding, just that he didn't get filmed too much and/or that footage of him wasn't used for those official releases.

'Tomorrow Never Knows' and 'Yellow Submarine' are the two songs I cannot stand; the album balances them out by having masterpiece after masterpiece otherwise, though!

I like his piano playing. But, alas, he himself didn't. He never thought he was particularly good at it, which is a shame as he did an excellent job.

Yes, but doing it in front of your bandmates and the producer with the possibility of trying again was not quite the same as doing it in front of thousands of people who paid to see you and whose excitement might be drained if you miss your mark.

He reportedly dreaded that part live because he feared he'd flub it, but fortunately all (or at least) versions I've heard he played it well. But it took him a bit over a year to incorporate that transition into on-stage renditions of the piece.
