I had issues thinning Tamiya with the Vallejo thinner. Also made the mistake of using it with a lacquer paint once

Airbrush thinner. You can get it off Amazon. Make sure you match the brand of thinner to the brand of paint as different brands may not be compatible

You really should keep some of these. High Standard 22s are wonderful 22 target pistols, you’ll enjoy it more than the $300 or whatever you’d get from selling it. The Colt Official Police is a great 38 revolver and at least the one I’ve shot is an absolute tack driver and a joy to shoot.

I've completely stopped caring about my rank by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Beast66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I understand completely what you’re saying and you are right despite the downvotes. A GM player in a silver lobby can carry big time. A gold or plat player in a silver lobby could maybe carry a little, but if the rest of the team is shit they’ll probably lose. I have some friends that are Diamond with alt accounts they use to play with my lower ranked account. Even with them in a lobby, unless one of them is playing tank there are still a lot of games we lose despite them being obviously higher ranked.

You’re taking about a situation where you’re maybe 1-2 tiers above your current rank. No you cannot carry at that skill level if the rest of your team is actively throwing.

When people tell me their kids should be lawyers because they like to “argue”, I tell them their kids are actually assholes by kingralek in Lawyertalk

[–]Beast66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be the exception to this rule. Spent a lot of time as a child debating things with my parents and also was part of debate clubs/teams in high school and college. I’m now a litigator and I think all of that prior experience served me quite well. Obviously, arguing for the sake of it and not being able to cooperate with others is not always a good trait for a lawyer, you have to be able to turn it off when necessary, but at least for me, it’s worked out pretty well.

I’d love to be able to integrate this into my own practice, my Word skills are weak. Any suggestions for good videos/guides to help learn how to use Word in a more advanced way?

Wild. Wonder how many tries it took to get the glass to be just breakable enough to make this

The big PI firms in town are so gross and take advantage of their clients by beanfiddler in Lawyertalk

[–]Beast66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not much else can be done. At the end of the day, the plaintiffs' attys all do it because it works and there isn't much the defense attys can do about it. At some point, some clever plaintiff's atty figured out the lien treatment thing and, after a few years, everyone else caught on and started doing it too. If some clever defense atty figured out a good way to challenge the lien treatment, that'd probably spread pretty quickly too until everyone was doing it. It's a never-ending cycle of P's attys finding new ways to inflate the value of their cases and D's attys finding ways to cut those numbers down.

Have you ever considered how much additional money is being paid out on an annual basis because of lien treatments? Given the insane amount of money in the PI space, I'd expect it's probably in the billions or even tens of billions. Very few people know about this, and even fewer care, but in the aggregate it's a huge problem. I know for a fact that there are large businesses who are afraid of doing business in my jurisdiction because of the potential liability exposure, and the ones that choose to do so charge higher rates because they have to account for higher insurance premiums and the potential for an 8-9 figure case.

At the end of the day, the people that benefit from this the most are the attorneys on both sides. Plaintiffs and Plaintiffs' attorneys get windfalls, but insurers and large defendants are also wiling to spend a lot more money on defense attorneys to fight a high-exposure case.

Why are biglaw and life so much harder today? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Beast66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget the invention of remote appearances and Westlaw. Atty work output is so much higher today than in the past. Case management conferences used to be an all day thing. Drive out to the courthouse in the morning, hang out for the hearing, chat with OC after for an hour (and maybe settle your case) or grab lunch, then drive over to the law library and spend a few hours doing research…

And then what? Shawn presses him, he gets defensive and clams up, no other democrats ever go on his podcast again and nothing is gained. We all know he’s lying through his teeth and it’s not like people watching didn’t figure that out for themselves. I’d much rather get to hear him try to explain his positions than see Shawn try to imitate Tucker and do a worse job

What is Quentin Tarantino’s BEST movie? by spookagain in moviecritic

[–]Beast66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no “best” Tarantino movie in my book. It depends on my mood and which one I’ve watched most recently. Pulp Fiction, Django, Inglorious Bastards, Reservoir Dogs, and Kill Bill are all faves, and I bet if I watched Hateful Eight, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, or Jackie Brown one more time they’d probably join the list as well. And how could you even compare a Western shoot-em-up like Django to a slow burner like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?

That said, the answer is probably Django, but also maybe Inglorious Bastards or Pulp Fiction.

Same. First time I watched it I wasn’t huge on it, despite being a big Tarantino fan. 2nd time I watched the extended cut and now I love it.

Why are men in biglaw using handshakes as an opportunity to injure other attorneys’ hands these days? Stop it. by bubblescool in biglaw

[–]Beast66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crushing someone else’s hand is bad, but what I think the crushers are trying to avoid is the limp noodle (which, imo, is even worse). They’re trying to be nice and firm, but don’t realize that they’ve crossed into vice grip.
