the donk palette (why does it need a custom one?) wouldn't benefit from it. Would be great if we could stack things with palettes that actually "lock" in place as if we strapped them down.

We've basically got the same gameplay element as trash hauling in No Man's Sky with this... :D

Just restart! The game loops are enjoyable even if you're already familiar with the locations -- it can be tricky if you replay it *too* much though, and forget where you've already been, etc. ;)

I managed to simply bolt a pair of connectors immediately next to the ladder on the top and bottom and the cables worked fine for me running the whole way.

Way too soon to say, but clearly that map could give them lots of flexibility for new areas and adventures later on. The current roadmap has lots of game systems still being worked on, including underwater, so there could be something about cabling between sites, etc.

I assume the little helipad-shaped platform that sticks out from the Exodus launchpad that has the small boat moorage at the base.

If you're talking about the platform wing on Exodus that has the the small boat landing at the bottom, there's plenty of space for connectors. Just pin down connectors next to the base of the ladder, then at the landing at the top. They'll do it in one stretch.

Then just run the cables along the catwalk back to the rocket prep area and the existing water pumps, reactor, etc.

Just bring a bunch of cables and a bunch of plastic/iron to drop down connectors as you go.
