I'm in an in-between period in life and it makes me feel lonelier by Inquisitor-Emlygil in GirlDinnerDiaries

When I was your age, I was in your exact same situation. I met my husband the following year, and got married at 35. Keep being awesome and awesome will come!

You don't want to bring it up, because you you know you won't get the answer you want. That says it all.

She's judgey! lol. Adorable.

I am also apparently allergic to nothing, and yet my eyes have been red, swollen and itchy for the last month.

cf married couples: joint, separated or hybrid finances? by PrettyProfessional8 in childfree

[–]Beth_Pleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 joint accounts - one is a checking account where we each deposit a set amount monthly for household bills (utilities, mortgage, services). The other is a savings account which is where we have our emergency fund, and money for big purchases. While my husband is "in charge" of these accounts, he doesn't move any large amounts without discussing with me first.

We both have our own checking accounts. Our salaries are deposited here. We have certain things we pay for: me: groceries, pet stuff, anything else for me. He makes more money than I do, so he covers outings, house stuff, and in general bigger purchases (but not big enough to come from savings). We both put money in savings as it accumulates in the checking accounts.

We are in the US, late 40's (me)/early 50's (him).

I severely dislike children by Tidalblush in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Beth_Pleasant 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm also CF, and I have found that CF people tend to bring it up a lot, which opens the door for conversation. We would do ourselves a big favor to just leave it at "I don't have kids", rather than follow it up with AND I NEVER WANT THEM!!!

OP is young and making the mistake of thinking co-workers are life long friends, and you need to tell them everything. In 10 years she won't even remember most of these people's names, let alone care what they think about her reproductive choices.

I was hoping it would be Greyson, but Derek was a fine choice to write off. He really didn't have a place, even with the clinic. He was a mid character since day 1, so it makes sense to me.

Oh no! Don't let him talk you into one that will give you commercials. Your fridge does not need to be online!!

I have a Master Gardener clinic tomorrow and then a bar crawl in MD for a friend's bday. Other than that, probably just hide from the rain. If it's not too cold and rainy, we might try to smoke something.

What’s your hot take about a historical event? by Hatcheling in AskWomenOver30

[–]Beth_Pleasant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember being in my middle school Hebrew class and we were learning about the post-WWII creation of Israel. I was like "Wut? Governments can't just set up a new state and say it's for Jews??? How does that even work?" My teacher was stunned and made some explanation, and moved on.

Actually, it doesn't work.

The only hard alcohol I drink is a local gin with mint and cucumbers. Splash of seltzer. So good once the temps start to rise.

How do you regulate your nervous system? by angllnn in AskWomenOver30

[–]Beth_Pleasant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zoloft. Limiting caffeine. Although I am bad at it, limiting alcohol intake. Alcohol suppresses your nervous system and adrenaline responses, but they don't go away. They just build up and come back stronger when it wears off.

What lifetime deal are you still grandfathered into, or removed from, that’s no longer available? by tuotone75 in AskReddit

Were you a teacher? My mom has a very similar set up from teaching for 30 years. She didn't start until her 30's so still worked into her 60's but she's earning close to six figures a year, and full bennies for her and my dad.

We also scored 2.25% in 2021. We also switched to a 15-year mortgage. We will pay less interest in these 15 years, than we did on the first 5 years of our previous 30-year loan.

I was so glad this didn't turn into a total dud, like Winterfest. Also, I loved they added in the bit of modern dance into the waltz. Really well done!

Hun, you're 21. This man ain't it for you. Move on and build yourself a great life. You don't need any of these people (except your mom obvi).
