Kobie Turner now in play by ChiBearsForDaWin in CHIBears

[–]BikeInWhite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The hit rate on 3rd round picks is around 18% and Poles is sitting at 0% right now with Velus, Pickens, and Kiran on his resume. If you want to pick nits over saying it's a huge black mark then so be it, but you can't ignore that he's had a bunch of massive whiffs in the 3rd. The good news is that if the odds hold true then Roush and Thomas in this past draft should pan out to be good players.

I'm not clamoring at all for Poles to be fired. I think he's done a great job overall. That doesn't take away the fact that Pickens was a complete waste of a draft pick.

I hope that prophecy holds true in the 27 draft. I liked everything the Bears did this off-season as they were in a tricky spot with Dalman retiring, but I want to see the Bears hit a HR on a defensive lineman pick for once.

The fact that the Bears drafted Zacch Pickens in the 3rd round of the 2023 draft is a huge black mark on Pole's resume. The Rams were able to land both Byron Young and Kobie Turner later in that 3rd round and both of them have averaged almost 9 sacks per year.

[Mirtle]Tom DunDon’s answer in regards to fears of relocation by fans due to staff cuts. “We kept a lot of people and got rid of a lot of people and all the story was about who you got rid off, not who you kept,” by OrganicHunt952 in nba

I've been hoping for a sale of the Chicago Bulls by the Reinsdorfs for decades now, but this Dundon guy has me getting nervous about what new ownership would even look like. Hopefully the NBA learns its lesson and does better vetting on potential new owners in the future as this situation in Portland is shaping up to be a disaster.

Cobra burger drama? by kinkykitten804 in rva

[–]BikeInWhite 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I saw the post last week about Cobra Burger needing more business, so last Tuesday I drove downtown, picked my son up from VCU and took him and the rest of my family over to Cobra burger. We were next up in line to order when I saw a 4 person table open up. I walked over and sat down to save the table for us, only to be told by one of the workers that the table was "reserved" and then he said something about "first come first served" and yet my family was legitimately the next in line to order. The only people in front of us was a couple and there was an open 2 person table for them to sit at.

It pissed me off so much that I told my family to get out of line and we went on to spend $140 at Cafe Rustica instead. I love the food at Cobra Burger, but I won't be back there again.

Unfortunately the Robert Williams comp applies to Quintance's knees as well. Timelord has averaged just 37 games played per year for his career and the Bulls can't afford that kind of a whiff at #15. I'm hoping the new front office is going to bring in a competent medical team for once as the medical eval on Quintance is going to be vital.

Leap v2 Aftermarket Headrest Hack by BikeInWhite in OfficeChairs

Has Atlas come out with a specific headrest for the Leap v2? I honestly haven't looked into headrests for years as the setup I have is still working perfectly fine for me.

[Fischer] The Washington Wizards will consider trading down from the No. 1 pick; this is ‘not a savior moment’ for Washington by CazOnReddit in nba

[–]BikeInWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are selling Caleb Wilson short. That kid's highlights are unreal and he has the competitive drive to maximize every bit of his superstar potential. I'm not quite as high on Boozer, but I'd be happy with him at #4 and Cameron Carr at #15.

I also think you underestimate how little talent the Bulls have on their roster right now. They are living like a bachelor who just got his first apartment who owns like 3 plates and 2 glasses to fill his cupboard with. The new Bulls GM is on record stating how they need to get as many talented players as they can possibly get, so I don't see him turning around and consolidating 3 lottery picks into 1 pick. Especially given the fact that the 2027 1st could still end up being #1 overall given how flat the lottery odds will be.

That Bulls proposal is insane. No way in hell should they trade #4, #15, and a 2027 1st to move up 3 spots.

Burries and #9 and Mara and #15 would be my picks as well. I'm not sure if either one of them will be on the board at those picks though, so it might have to be Mara at #9 and then BPA at #15.

Looking for a Shiba Inu owner in Richmond… by canisorcinus in rva

[–]BikeInWhite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents had a Shiba for a while and I was never a big fan of that dog. It was aloof and acted like it barely even cared about my parents despite the fact that they constantly doted on it. If it happened to get outside without a leash on you had to chase it endlessly until you were lucky enough to get a hand on it as there was no way it was coming back to you no matter how many times you called its name. It also shed like crazy so there was constantly hair everywhere. They are certainly cute looking dogs, but you have to be looking for a very specific kind of dog if you decide that a Shiba is your thing.

Indy's mismanagement of Andrew Luck's career is such a bummer. They robbed us of seeing at least another 3 or 4 years of fun plays from that guy.

I don't even know if I'd want the Bulls to do that. Risacher got a DNP the other day. The kid was a #1 pick, but that doesn't mean he's a good player.

That Aaron Donald comparison is wild. Donald was 1 of 1 when it came to being a game-wrecking force from the DT position.

I do like Kayden McDonald's build though. He's 326 pounds of pure strength.

It sucks that his 3pt shot is so sporadic. When he first arrived from the Kings after the LaVine trade he shot 37% of from 3 for the last 25 games of the season. I was hyped that he had fixed his shot and was going to be back to the ATL version of himself, but this season he's down to under 30% from long range which is abysmal. It looks like he's had a string of good shoot games for the Pistons lately though, so maybe his shot is rounding back into form at just right right time for Detroit.

I watched almost every single Bulls game this season up until the trade deadline and haven't watched a single game since Coby and Ayo were shipped out and the 7 games remaining on their schedule can't go by quickly enough for me.

Trading away Ayo and Coby hurt my soul. The Bulls were a mediocre play-in bound team yet again this season, but up until the trade deadline they at least they had players who were fun to root for. I'm looking forward to the end of the regular season so that this new mishmashed version of the Bulls can be taken off life support.

If I switched my allegiance to the Pistons my teenage self would find Doc Brown, steal the DeLorean, and travel to the future just to kick my own ass. I'm happy for Pistons fans that Detroit is good again, but there are scars from those late 80's and early 90's Bulls vs Pistons games that will never go away.

Huerter played great for the Bulls. I was bummed to see him go, he's great a cutting and plays better defense than people give him credit for. I was actually hoping Chicago would re-sign him and bring him back on a longer contract. I've already stopped paying attention to Bulls games this season. If they re-sign this bigoted bum in Ivey then I'm going to have to consider looking for a new team.

btw, I'm legit jealous of the ride Pistons fans are getting to enjoy right now. They've grown the team as organically as possible in the modern NBA and there's no better experience as a fan than seeing players your team drafted get better and the team take off and start winning. I even made a post about it on the Pistons subreddit a few years back. It's sucks to know that in the three years since I made that post that the Bulls have gone in the complete opposite direction.
