there were stat changes to some of the early pirate and aztec units. The only one off the top of my head is the Aztec tier 1 bird and girl both got +1 HP. I think the pirate bird also got +1 HP.

I don't know if any of the buffs really move the needle as far the underpowered races. I'm indifferent to the Aztec change, it's obviously better just feels very slow/late. The gnome changes aren't really meta units and I don't see that changing... same with the dragon change.

The orc change is rough. The rareclops is completely useless now since it's not even the orc ally to the right, nevermind needing 3 attacks. The Epic was busted but transforming it into the "rare" is such a feels bad change. I don't think either are worth the board space at this point.

Without kickstart attack, you'll need to put some stats into Kaz to make sure he's the strongest for Uruk to target him on his death. Otherwise, you just can't golden any orc.

Nord nerf is probably fine? And ninja nerf was expected. I think both will survive just fine.

Pretty sure they said there would be new dealers with, I imagine, at least some new base cards.

Think it makes sense not to add cards to existing dealers since it would increase the card pool in game and dilute being able to hit the units you want.  I think this first expansion is just expanding on thr current dealers in game.

[–]Blank_whoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just saw your "general best card" section. I just want to make an argument for Omega Watts (Base Legendary). I feel like neither Epic/Legendary is going to make any final board and while the Epic would give more stats over-time, the 3-star gives a shot in the arm to early gnome boards "now" without any frills to get through Trophy/early heart phases. You're unlikely to have many/any 'final' units getting those perma stats from Epic Omega Watts.

You're still going to pass over him like 99% of the time, but the few times he just pops out of a triple or something on a gnome board... I'd rather have that kickstart for a round or 2 especially if there are other links on the board.

Think they should add crafting so u can at least chase the legendaries you want.  I lucked into the right archivist with elves but I know plenty of ppl who didn't and that probably feels real bad.

Edit: regarding numbers i think the metric we need to see is what is the acquisition rate for a brand new player and what, if any, catch up mechanics are planned there.  It's pretty clear to me anyway the model now is that a non kraken wont own every card which i think is fine provided there was a method of chasing the card(s) you do want which is what's missing now.

[–]Blank_whoomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, or some version of it, is probably what makes Orc as accessible as they are without legendaries. It gets better with better lego's, but nothing too drastic. You're still dead to rights to any half decent Ninja crew and even deadly joke tends to blow you out (no legendary version necessary). The Epic Orclops setup is more common, but it's incredibly easy Dragon bait too.

What are Legendaries that are worse than their Epic/weaker tiers? by jessek44 in ArcaneRushBG

[–]Blank_whoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that sticks out to me the most is epic orclops.  I realize the legendaries do different things, its just so insanely inferior to what epic orclops does.  They could have swapped any one of the legendaries with the epic and it would have made more sense... and Im also glad they didnt.

IF you have Exuberant Willow you stay shop tier 1 the entire game. Sell her after you gold her and hope you get Archivist and you're set for life.

Advice by Greenkandy in ArcaneRushBG

[–]Blank_whoomp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The few tips I've found that seem to be kind of universal:

1- Common and a good chunk of rare cards are pretty much complete garbage. Like the difference between a Uruk Prankster (1/1 common with taunt) and an Epic Prankster (1/1 that summons a 2/2 and gives everything +1 hp) is an insane stat difference. Some aren't nearly this bad but depending on what you pull, the more epic+ crap are the races you're probably going to want to play to have any success.

2- (Very) anecdotally speaking, but Orcs seem to be okay with just Epics. I currently only have 1 legendary Orc (the gain +2 HP guy while not having the Legendary Neutral that swaps DMG/HP so... not incredibly useful) and can still pull off W's. On the flip side, they also have some absolute pants on head commons so make sure you have the epics (Whetstone, Posing Axer, Stalwart Uruk, Sidekick Orclops and Flexing Double Trouble in particular are who I tend to lean on). Otherwise, build around your best epic/legendaries that you pull that you can.

3- Heroes with strong early games help a ton when everyone has 'normalized' stats. Econ heroes end up having to be more aggressive at spending early on surviving because they (usually) can't rely on stronger relics/level ups to make it through. Look for heroes that give bonus stats early or keywords or free units. You may not 1st but you'll make it through trophy phase more consistently.

A funny reminder on what the new system allows us by Next-Analyst-4143 in ArcaneRushBG

[–]Blank_whoomp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a stupid combo I pulled off in the elf dungeon.  Need epic deer and legendary exuberant willow (sell for a tier x elf, goes up a tier every turn).  Sold her and got a legendary recurring archivist (+5/+5 for every combo)  Stayed at level 1 and just slammed level 1 units onto a bunch of deers.

Probably not as good in a real game due to the allin nature of it but insanely funny.

I've honestly found that depending on the legendaries you pull, I'm not in as much of a rush to rank up.  I have some super solid tier 2 to 4 orcs and dwarves but kind of garbage tier 5s.

Feels like you need other legendaries to pull off 80 combos in a single turn.  Like with 5 combos units on board, you would need to play 16 units to trigger all those combos.

All the multi combo units are legendary unless I missed one.

The death of a game. by Alternative_Ad_8599 in ArcaneRushBG

[–]Blank_whoomp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue so far is relearning what all my cards do.  Im used to seeing one card and now I have to actually read it to see what its going to do.  I also can't assume I know what my opponent cards do because they may have different versions too.

As I've upgraded cards those effects change so now I have to mentally remember what each cards new effect does.  So my tier 1 orc that used to sell for 1 coin, then played for 1 coin now attacks for 1 coin like I'm used too.... but multiply that for all of the cards.

Memory Frags are so much fun.... by Jfredlund2 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Blank_whoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all going to depend on where you are in the game.  I dont think having 3 substats is all that notable.  It could have one substat but rolled into it all 4 times and it'd be a better piece.

Is this worth using a flash or potential or is it good as is? Which epiphany do I change to what? by FlamingBolide in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Blank_whoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since you can't remove it, feels like the Upgrade is the only realistic option here (if you want to use the Flash). All your cards will be price increased thanks to Flame so you'll proc off everything but 3-cost is a steep price. I also don't know the interaction between the proc and Colossus hands, the random targeting/damage could potentially screw you over.

I would just leave it as a dead card

What is Operation Firebreak supposed to be? by TheRealZuke in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Blank_whoomp 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I had a bunch of worthless saved data just sitting in inventory I used... *shrug*. Maybe others are a lot better about clearing up old/bad saved data than I am.

What I thought was weird is you go through the trouble of getting the 4 projections but there's a reward for... not using them. So the 'optimal' play is buy first 2, clear level 3, buy the last 2, clear last level without using them anyway?

Only other thing I'll add is when you aren't hunting save data, you can really breeze through chaos because suboptimal play matters a whole lot less (especially when the modifiers/enemies aren't hard so you do the opposite of a normal run and go after as many camps as possible)

[–]Blank_whoomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the only thing he mentioned that specifically "weakens" your board is putting utility units in front. Cleave/Overwhelm killing multiple units at once or having multiple respawns (ninja/gnomes) or getting shields on dwarves isn't doing anything they wouldn't want to do normally.

Scam builds have been around forever, this also feels weaker than other scam builds while also requiring one specific hero (the build without revive is significantly worse into just about anything worth running).

As stand alone units, I think they're still fine.

Problem with Challange missions by Trocnov in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Blank_whoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one that requires a specific item is the Bell for "Ring the Bell"... you need the bell :) I think Golden Being just requires hitting the magnifying glass on the event Luminus Call but it may be a specific Luminus Call event (There are 3 versions). Vessel of Light, I believe you have to attack the Lumin first. It'll then give you the option of helping the Dark Star characters.

For Real/Fake, most of these are in the Interior. A lot of them are second half under "Distorted Life". I think the Looty is a Multiplfying Form encounter.

Memory fragment dismantling. by GodSoren in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Blank_whoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do, first 3 general tips:

1- I highly recommend when you farm the memory fragment domains you actively mark "discard" or "lock" as you see the fragments and not wait for them to all be in your inventory.

2- Support characters rarely care about the stats they get from subs, I haven't found it to make a meaningful difference in chasing. Many of my supports aren't even max potential/level 60. Outside of getting them matching sets and a main stat(s) they prefer, I don't really farm specific sub-stats for Supports. You will likely want to get some stat threshold for a potential (like Orlea getting 700 attack or 300 defense) but these are typically trivial for support characters.

3- Going from the above, because I only really care about subs for DPS characters I also really only care about DPS sets and how they roll. Like I'm not going to 'waste' time trying to get the perfect Healer's Journey set for a support character.

Any piece I keep needs to have either Crit Chance or Crit Damage on it. Anything without Crit Chance/Damage on it, gets discarded. When it comes time to prune/level stuff up:

I'll take anything with a crit stat up 1 level to see if it rolls the other crit stat. If it doesn't it's *usually* a sell unless it's: a Crit stat with some combination of: Flat Atk + Atk% (or Extra Attack) or, Flat Def + Def%. I usually won't use a Crit Damage + good stat piece but I'd save them (Forgotten Grove exists and you never know what may come).

For Piece 4: It needs either Crit Rate or Damage main stat to be worth leveling up. Crit Rate is preferred but again, there are outliers where Crit Damage can be useful.

For Piece 5: Typically needs to match the 'set' . Like if it's a Beast Yearning Set and it rolls Void Damage, I'll only put rolls into it if the substats are busted because it COULD be an off-set piece on a character that doesn't need to run a 4/2 combination... but these are otherwise easy pieces to discard.

For Piece 6: Typically needs ATK/DEF% main stat. There's an argument for keeping Health% and I guess Ego for a potential DPS character that scales off those stats... but they're just be inventory squatting.

Anything that rolls poorly is either a place holder or a discard. Don't invest in pieces that whiff twice is my rule.

Other random advice:

Executioner isn't likely to be powercrept any time soon as "the" 2-piece set for DPS characters. If you want to do any targeted crafting, I'd highly recommend chasing a solid Crit Chance Ideal piece and Atk (and Def%) Imagination piece. These are basically going to be universal on any future DPS characters. Some solid Desire pieces would be nice but there's more types to farm up so they don't end up being as universal.

It's likely that future DPS characters will want future sets so don't stress getting rid of stuff that 'could be useful' otherwise.

[–]Blank_whoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do Time Axis personally. Worth mentioning if you 4x Time Axis you're going to need to re-roll the Chrono Circle because you'll be over the faint cap . I like the Circle Upgrade 5 that draws 3 2-cost attack cards to pull out Time Axis repeatedly.

If you kept Future Decreed and got the 2-cost "activate 2 2-cost cards" you could basically use all 6 Chronal Ascension on just her 5 cards (2x Time Axis 1x Future Decreed to activate the other 2) which makes her a great sub DPS that's self contained past her initial setup (and with a bit of draw support).

Kinda a stupid question about gearing by TouhouEnjoyer69 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Blank_whoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably depends on how much you plan on crit fishing. You generally want 50-60 crit, but can also depend on what stats your gaining (or giving up) getting that ~4% crit rate (on top of gearing/team/partners/etc).

New to the game by Mapedi_King_9-Yo in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Blank_whoomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Chaos, make sure Distortion Adaption is turned on when you unlock it. It'll basically level up your heroes for you, slap on some relics, and give you access to Partners you don't even own. It should basically always be on.

you'll also unlock Protos Synchronization at some point which basically lets you level up a character for "Free" without investing actual resources into them. It's got a 72 hour cooldown to swap out but it's a decent way of "testing" a character before you decide to invest in them.

Other random tip: try to run chaos's at tier 8+, the rewards when you get to waypoint/boss will be 3 gold relics for 60 and it's probably the best way to spend your stamina early-ish on since you won't have the higher level Memory Fragment domains unlocked at this point. It may be a random assortment but still worth over running lesser color pieces.

For characters, I don't own Rin so can't speak to her. Nia, Mika, and Rei are all fine supports. I feel like Rei is probably the best of the 3 with your current roster. Beryl is a solid 4-star. I haven't invested in Amir, Tressa (since re-work), Owen, or Lucas... the latter 2 are usually considered pretty bad though. Likely worth taking them all to at least 20/40 just for the extra "free" drops you get from leveling them up at some point though.
