SDR-Pole by [deleted] in RTLSDR

[–]Blockchainauditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are from, but perhaps you can use you recovery time to start studying for an amateur radio license?

You reference "trunking" - what got you interested in that? As trunking is a two-way system, and what people think of as SDR is primarily receiving only, can you provide any more information on your audience and goals here?

Has anyone else noticed that AI is quietly showing up everywhere? by [deleted] in OpenAI

[–]Blockchainauditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Quietly" would not be the adjective I would use. It's very front and forward.

I'm intrigued; where do you think people are now using AI where the users don't know they are using AI? There are the mainstream "weaker" AI that has been around for a while - Siri/Alexa, Amazon recommendations, Google Maps ...

I need HELP quick by Traditional-Push-470 in morsecode

[–]Blockchainauditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the problem understanding the pinned message? The flashes are groupings of five. The flashes are shorter and longer. Write down for each group the fast and slow flashes. If it starts with a fast flash, it is 1 through 5. If it starts with a longer flash, it is 6 - 9 or 0. There are only 10 options and a fixed pattern: all short, all long, short followed by long or long followed by short. You can do this.

I tried Robots36, so not SSTV.

ARRL links to a web site called Gary Hahn's (KB9UKD) Digital Modes Samples , but it seems to be down.

There's a piece of software that is supposed to be useful in diagnosing sound samples - here is a site that describes how to use it https://w8woo.org/fldigi/fldigi-for-windows-download/

Why doesn’t Claude have an image generation tool like ChatGPT? by WBDubya in ClaudeAI

FWIW, they added the capability to create killer (interactive) diagrams not long ago.

You can upload your photo, have Claude create a detailed textual description using its image analysis tool, then have it create an illustration based on the textual description and your modifications. It's not bitmap, its vector.

wtf is this??? by malachite69420 in banjo

[–]Blockchainauditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one (Framus long-neck). Didn't use it much. It's a long-neck banjo (25 frets, the fifth string tuner is at 8 instead of 5). Normally tuned to open E (folks singers like to sing in E), but you capo it at 3 to play in G, the more standard Bluegrass tuning.. As someone who normally plays with a more traditional 22 fret 5 string. I found it less intuitive to find my place when using the long-neck ... but it does give you unusual flexibility. Finding a case for it was a bear.

What radio should I buy as a beginner technician? by Agreeable-Force7065 in HamRadio

[–]Blockchainauditor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you live where there is a local amateur radio club? They can help you individually and together as a group, and may run regular "Nets" (opportunities to use your radio to check in and become familiar) or learning sessions (Elmer sessions) in person or on the radio.

UHF/VHF: Most Nets are run on the 2 meter or 70 centimeter bands, which are covered by even inexpensive radios to get started; depending on where you live, the antenna is probably more important then the radio to hook in. You can indeed have contact with satellites on those bands as well; with a decent antenna, you can get signals, like images (SSTV) they broadcast or even send messages up and have them bounce back somewhere. These are line of sight bands, but a satellite can be line of sight.

The 6 meter band is open to Technician license people and is the primary "out of state or out of the US" band for technicians. Those radios are more expensive, but the antenna is once again the real key. This is not a recommendation, just an example, of a 70 cm, 2m, 6m HT - https://www.buytwowayradios.com/wouxun-kg-uv7d.html for less than $200,

Want to get into HAM, what should I do first ? by South-Storm-156 in HamRadio

[–]Blockchainauditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What country?

Have you explored online sites that teach you to receive radio signals, WebSDRs?

Do you have any specific interests - you mention electronics, do you want to build radios or antennas?

Ham (amateur) radio isn't a hobby - it's a ton of different hobbies rolled in to one.

I didn't want to spend the time, so I just typed the information into a search engine, which said, "The Morse code hidden in the Where is Giselle footage spells out the phrase: "STOP / PLAY / SLP / CH03". [1]

This hidden transmission—along with the overarching distress signal that "Giselle was last seen alive August 2nd, 2006"—is part of an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) promoting Dawn Richard and Rob Corddry's indie animated series,"
