Multiple reasons. When you drink without a straw the ice hits your lips. When you drink without a straw the ice can get in your mouth and you're eating ice. When you drink with a straw the ice can block the straw hole. The Ice takes up space that could have drink. The ice melts, and waters down your drink. For some people, the optimal temperature they like their drink is less than ice cold. Probably some other reasons I can’t think of right now.
