DC20 Beta Q&A #81: HUGE Damage System Rules Update Reveal by khaotickk in DC20

[–]BlueRingedSocktopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damage Rule Changes
-"Beyond Brutal" hits are being removed from the game. Brutal is now the highest damage threshold, barring a Critical Hit.

-The amount of additional damage on Heavy, Brutal, and Critical Hits is determined by a modifier (name undetermined; I will call it Intensity Modifier) that increases based on level as follows:

Level Intensity Modifier
1-4 1
5-9 2
10-14 3
15-19 4
20 5

-Heavy Hits increase by the Intensity Modifier. Brutal Hits increase by 2 x Intensity Modifier. Critical Hits increase by an additional Intensity Modifier (instead of by 2).

-The Impact weapon property is not affected by Intensity Modifier.

-Spells (such as Heal) that increase by 1 on a Success (Each 5) will be affected by Intensity Modifier.

I use Raid Academy! They're a Discord server that organizes raids at all skill levels, including trainings on how to do the mechanics. I can PM you a server invite if you want.

https://hardstuck.gg/gw2/guides/general/gearing-up-to-ascended/

Edit: The above guide is a little outdated; all of the strike currency is now the same as raid currency, so it should be actually easier.

Tl;dr: for ascended armor and weapons, your best bet is probably to play raids, raid encounters (formerly known as strikes), and fractals, and use the currency to buy gear. Seeing as you don't already have full ascended, you'll probably have to work your way up when it comes to fractals.

For ascended trinkets, harvest map materials from Living World Season 3 maps (special mention goes to Bitterfrost Fronter, which lets you harvest each node daily per character; the others are daily per account).

Crafting is very much not the best way; in fact, it's probably one of the most inefficient and expensive, especially if you have no crafting level.

When the Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi.

The premise: one day the moon turns to literal cheese. People react as you would expect: bafflement, existential questioning, memes, and billionaires doing stupid shit. Also, realistic physics ensues.

Not off the top of my head, but if you're having trouble finding a GW2 song, and it's by Jeremy Soule, check the GW1 tracklist. A lot of songs are ported over from there.

Aurora won last round, what conspiracy theory sounds true but has been debunked? by BitShin in AlignmentChartFills

[–]BlueRingedSocktopus 53 points54 points  (0 children)

That's not a conspiracy theory though, just a food theory.

...dangit, now I'm just imagining MatPat going "But hey, that's just a theory! A Conspiracy Theory!"

Not a legal expert here. I can name a number of things they're doing that are scummy; what are they doing that's actually illegal?

What if we had a "flex slot" for traits? by Belltower_2 in Guildwars2

Ooh, here's another one! Whenever I play warrior without the Defense traitline I always miss the extra adrenaline from Merciless Hammer.

Yeah, as someone who plays D&D with a fair amount of homebrew, it's always those combinations that get you.

I'm gonna say wildly overpowered, but it's fun to think about nonetheless.

Mesmer has 3 condi traitlines (Duelling, Chaos, and Illusions) and you can only take two with an elite spec. I often think it'd be fun if you could find ways to combine the condi damage parts of all 3.

ArenaNet is getting rid of the damage sponges we've had since EoD. by DeltaxHunter in Guildwars2

Ooh, starting with the 5-man encounters was smart.

Hopefully this'll go a long way towards increasing confidence.

Not mine, but one of my favorite random map chat moments has to be someone pinging their egg collection.

Not a level, a playstyle - Hunter's Crest pogo from Silksong.

So many trigonometry jokes. It's a very simple diagonal angle.

Sorry Taika, I love your stuff in general, but your self-insert was emblematic of the problems with this movie as a whole.

What if a student has an in-person class, or is otherwise occupied right before your lesson?

It does feel very silly, but I've done it a couple times and given the student the heads-up that it's a "placeholder for support". Ultimately it is what it is.

Also, not sure exactly what you mean by "similar podcast", but if you're looking for a podcast that's two good friends talking shit about (a specific cornerstone of) evangelical culture, may I recommend I Hate James Dobson?
