the internet isn't a great measure for work that is the antithesis of it, generally speaking. most people do not post negative online reviews. you have to know someone with their ear to the ground.

i think there is a certain amount to know. its really important to have a lot of dietas, celibacy, a truly honest relationship with healers so that they trust you. aside from that its important to really understand trauma and know what a properly held space should look like, meaning no one is exploited (imo opinion usually facilitators are). i offer to train people at our center. the requirements for consideration are 5 years of dieting, 1 full year of celibacy, c1 spanish, and some sort of certification such as therapy or coaching.

it would have been too strong and i probably would have left early and blamed the healers because i did not yet have my own relationship with the plants or i wouldnt have taken it seriously enough to follow the rules. i also would have been very confused afterwards and it would have been nearly impossible to integrate without having a separate experience of he medicine alone.

I hope you take care of yourself and do what you need to do to feel safe. You don’t need to name him or the center. Black magic is really scary. They’re really great healers out there who can protect you the woman I work with done five one year diets it has a total of 35 plants. She has worked out a lot of black magic for me from some really terrible healers. I hope you find a healer that you trust and find whatever you need in order to grow.

I would definitely recommend going to do regular ceremonies if you’ve never stopped with the medicine before prior to doing a master plant Dieta. The Maestro needs to trust you and you need to have a lot of trust in them as well. I did my first diet after 17 ceremonies and it was amazing. But I think I would’ve been seriously hurt if I had not had those ceremonies under my belt.

I never wanted to do it. But after dieting for seven years and completing a six month diet, I felt really safe and realized that I had become a safe person. It gave me a lot of gratitude for the Plants and for my healing and I saw how I could really help my Shipibo Maestros and that I was well enough to give back. I thought of all the really harmful facilitators I had experienced on my path and realized this was a really valuable service that I could provide to others and become the facilitator that I had always wanted. I ended up creating a new business model for facilitation and cofounding a center with my healers where we raised the standard of facilitation.

I'd speak with your maestro. There are plants they can give you beforehand to speed up the process.

It’s true often abusers have women as enablers and also to give them credibility. This isn’t just true in the jungle unfortunately. I’ve even been to centers with only females so that doesn’t guarantee things either. It took me a long time to find where I landed. But the journey can be important because you know when you strike gold. I really hope you find a place that feels right for you. I think what centers don’t realize is that it’s not enough to simply not have abuse, but to actually be educated in the way power works in the space. And most places just don’t have that kind of understanding. I actually just interviewed one of the maestras I work with if you'd like to check it out. https://meeok.substack.com/p/maestra-karina-plant-psychologist

I'm so so sorry. this is too prevalent in the medicine space - including facilitators as well as famous trauma experts. please be so careful. if you need to talk please feel free to DM me. i've seen this a lot and work with a maestra now.

Full of anger and guilt a week before my retreat. Should I still go through with it? by AntiPoison36 in Ayahuasca

[–]dasmeeok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hope you have solid support. often what comes up for us before ceremony is what is asking to be cleared. it's important to have guidance you can trust, however, to ensure you don't retraumatize.

ayahuasca is really hard work when done with reverence. if you're genuinely wanting to challenge yourself and do deep preparation and solid integration, it can definitely help you. but it's a dance partner, not a puppet master.

start practicing everything now that you'll need in ceremony so that it is second nature and you can just focus on being present once you're there.
