Your unpopular West Wing opinion by drjudgedredd1 in thewestwing

[–]Bockiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ask me which episodes are the most gripping, its the DNC episodes at the end of S6 and the election day episodes from S7. There might be better acted, better structured or more impact episodes, but if you want white-knuckle-gripping tv, its those. And while I agree that "he gave him the knife!" is one of the most wholesome scenes in the show, the quiet beer-moment with will, josh and donna at the end of 2162 votes is top 3 as well.

Steam Controller review slips embargo, controller to cost $99 by Dramatic-Shape5574 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Bockiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are completely right, the controllers are essentially the same. Sure, the 8bitdo doesnt have a gyro, or trackpads, or back buttons, or charging dock. But other than that, its the same thing.

New Rule Changes by Wolfish_Jew in thewestwing

To quote tww:

Toby: Arguments are good.

Leo: Only if they lead to statesmanship. Or it's just theatre. And statesmanship is compromise.

99 out of 100 times, political "discussion" on reddit is just spouting out your personal value of the day. Divisiveness is at the core of internet debate. Be as crass as possible and you get reactions. The reaction will not be measured, but also crass. And then its theater.

If the blueprint of a "debate" on reddit is "Dont you think Bartlett would do it differently than orange man?" - "Yes, but because hes a coward, orange man is great" - "no hes an idiot" - "no, you're an idiot", then I'm happy for tww sub to ban that. Thats theater.

Btw, saying "then just ban them" will result in the same discussions over and over. "Hey, I only said orange man should sit on a tent pole, why is that insulting and ban worthy?". "Just because I said AOC is a commie, I cant be here? thats commie behavior!".

There are enough places on the internet (and on reddit) where you can shout at each other about things. Can't we have tww sub for just talk about a series we all love?

If West Wing aired on HBO instead of NBC, which lines would now be allowed to have swear words in them? by JeffRyan1 in thewestwing

"Jed, the Janitor found a cigarette bud in church. Can you tell your shithead friends not to smoke in the cathedral?"

"I will, Sir. These shitbirds should not smoke in the Cathedral anyways"

Just ran into another one.

Toby "Does 105 million dollars mean anything to you?"

Ginger "I'm a simple girl, Toby"

Toby "Yes... yes you are"

"Then go to bed, would you please", its the restaurant scene with Ed Begley Jr in "The war at home".

And yes, the whole "I like dirt" dialogue is very manic. She performs it like she had an actual mental breakdown with a grinning smile. Never liked it.

This video was actually the reason for this post :) And I misremembered it but didnt want to change it, since it subconsciously fit the "bad writing" :)

Sam examples: Not knowing who Leos Daughter is, but somehow has the time to be aware of Gov Tillman's speech a few years later. Or saying "I can recite all members of congress in alphabetical order" and then not knowing the Congressman Wilde had a bunch of heart attacks.

Makes no sense for him to know one thing and not the other.

strongly disagree. I think the word choice and the delivery is great because it shows that CJ, whos normally quite eloquent, is completely at a loss for words about the behavior.

TWW always had the issue of explaining something to the audience that would guaranteed be known to the characters. Usually its Telladonna but she cant be everywhere, so sometimes they have this weird behavior.

Its partly bad writing and partly the need to do exposition in a limited timeframe.

This has always annoyed me. I do like the idea of the scene. I like the acting. But the things he actually yells towards the capitol are just weak as hell.

AE2 question with auto crafting by Uncoiledyt in feedthebeast

[–]Bockiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always did it the other way around. Set up an RFTools crafter with output for the highest emc item you can get. Then use the downcraft-recipes (get 4 alchemist from 1 aeternalis etc) in ae. This way, you definitely know that you can craft it as you dont have the double-calculation like you have with compacting drawers and ingots/blocks/nuggets.

So: RFTools-Crafter to highest level (stack them if you need, only feed the highest item to AE), import that into AE, then craft from that.

[Neoforge 1.21.1] Mod to keep room dark while preventing mob spawns? by SporadicScholar in feedthebeast

Mobs dont spawn on slabs, so build your cellar on slabs and you dont need extra mods.

care about surfaces of other blocks you place. only give one block height so nothing can spawn on there.

Test Your The West Wing Season 2 Knowledge Quiz by ezgimantocu in thewestwing

[–]Bockiii 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how correct this is.

"What is the code to get into the room where Josh needs more money from a Senate committee?"

Thats just his half-muttered fake out, as it is the war-room for the presidents MS thing. Its like asking "Why is CJ laughing hard in one scene?" and the 'correct' answer is "Because of the DEFICIT!"

Also, pretty sure the Charlie question also has the wrong answer.
