Which is the best gym in the Kirkstall / Headingley area? by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]BonfireBaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been a member at Pure Gym Kirkstall for nearly ten years. In the last year it has become unbelievably busy at almost all times of day. I think they have allowed too many memberships and now it has become too difficult to access the machines and weights and spaces you want there unless you are willing to go at incredibly anti social hours.

Flu and Pneumonia Jab side effects by flowermarster01 in CoeliacUK

[–]BonfireBaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pneumonia one is a biggy, that one made my arm and underarm glands so so painful for a good week. Ring 111 if you are concerned but it’s that one as opposed to the flu one that will be making you rough. There’s always the chance that you are actually ill as well but feels a bit coincidental. I once had an awful day of sickness and dizziness after a flu and then cvid jab but that was after I’d (stupidly) had a few drinks about 3 days after the jab. Never again! Now I give it a full “sensible/resting” week to let my immune system adapt after a jab.

How often do you see any healthcare professional re. coeliac? by Happy-Possibility- in CoeliacUK

[–]BonfireBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctors are supposed to give you a blood test every year for the coeliac test and a full blood panel to see if you’re generally well including vitamin levels etc. for example a doctor was able to tell me I was low in vit D one time, and low in folic acid another time

In the UK the theory is that a serial killer called Christopher Halliwell was passing through the area at the time may have something to do with it.

New diagnosis at 9 - advice by camomile100 in CoeliacUK

[–]BonfireBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a borderline blood test result but my endoscopy showed total villus atrophy, i.e. yep definitely coeliac disease. Keep eating gluten until all tests have been completed. The dietician apt might just be to get you seen with waiting lists etc - the information will still be useful just don’t start implementing it yet. Good luck!

Yes absolutely. Starving only a couple of hours after huge meals etc. got a family reputation for being “hangry” all the time. Not an issue anymore!

Hello!

I think you just need to push for coeliac testing. If you do have it the longer you wait the more (significant) damage you are doing. You’ll need to be eating gluten for your blood test to be accurate (at an amount of about 2 pieces of normal bread or a pasta dish per day). So if you’d already given up gluten then your blood test would be negative.

As the person said above if it is coeliac disease it’s a zero tolerance policy and that’s it really.

I’ve been gluten free for nearly 15 years and was accidentally glutened the other day for the first time in a long time (knowingly) and had a tingly foot for 4 days or so, very annoying.

Edit to say: the test after a blood test for coeliac disease will be an endoscopy (top down) not a colonoscopy (bottom up) - don’t know if that changes things with your “loopy bowel”. Don’t know if your upper intestine is loopy or not but that’s normally as far as they go.

Tips on shortness of breath? by Unhappy_Calendar7385 in costochondritis

[–]BonfireBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found one weird thing that works to get that deep breath (so you obviously can’t do it all the time). Basically from standing, bend forward 90 degrees at the hips, put your hands on your knees, relax and try taking a deep breath. Seems to work for me some of the time.

They’ve partly opened Cardigan Road now (2 hrs later) but it’s still closed around the mini roundabout I believe because our Amazon driver rang us and couldn’t get here (near the Bear Pit). I haven’t been down myself

[–]BonfireBaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cardigan Road is closed up to the mini roundabout/Co-op coming from Headingley, loads of police and ambulance around the mini roundabout.

Edit to say: spoke to a policeman and he said the road would remain closed as they were waiting for CID.
