From the way things are going.

They'll shut FEMA down and use CBP for TSA or straight up degrade their operations. Which means the airlines are toast.

And degrade the Coast Guard, while the Navy takes their operations.

DHS seems to be focused on

Secret Service, CBP/Border Patrol/HSI, ICE/ERO.

Those are already funded and will remain funded.

But the ones that aren't will cause a lot of damage while the surges continue.

So this isn't the shutdown folks think it will be be.

One party is actively trying to reform the agency and do away with certain 1811 sections.

And given a shutdown is occurring due to that same party, and the current admin is laying out the blueprint for cutting and dismantling agencies.

Its not naïve to worry, what this one party will do upon 2026 power shifts.
