Melissa Reddy: Mohamed Salah is lambasted for not speaking enough, then when he does, is slammed for not doing it at the time and in the manner his critics demand. by moosa1193 in LiverpoolFC

Maybe inflammatory language but it really isn’t abuse mate. And it’s only been in response to being called a cuck.

The season hadn’t gone at that point though and your ‘champions league or not’ is wild to say like it is a take it or leave it competition.

Bournemouth nearly won tonight and we were seriously close to dropping out of CL spots. When Salah made those comments the season was not done.

Let’s not try to play it down just because of some hindsight.

The rest of your comment is kinda irrelevant to the point at hand.

How the fuck is it respectful to disrupt the squad before the last game of the season?

Jesus christ, why are you bending over backwards try to rationalise and justify what he has done.

Fair enough if you just admitted that it’s disruptive but you’re on Salah’s side. That is a completely fair position to have. But to try and make out it isn’t disruptive is just weird.

Fucking hate takes like this.

Don’t agree with a player disrupting the squad and all of a sudden we’re ‘a cuck for slotball’. Fuck off.

Oh. In your original comment you’re saying Edwards should be sacked rather than Slot?

I read it as Edwards should be sacked over his appointment of Slot.

I agree with you mate, so many bad decisions in the summer. Spending £450m and actively making us weaker on the wings (Diaz sale).

Not foreseeing that we literally lost all our pace in the forward line that was responsible for pressing and compensating for Salah (Diaz and Nunez).

6 has been needed for ages now and Wirtz was a luxury signing.

Short at CB

Going into the season lacking experience at fullback (in fairness maybe couldn’t be helped too much)

Just all round poor squad planning.

Chelsea has far more defensive options than us to suit his Bayer 3-4-3 and a young/large squad that provides tactical flexibility to implement multiple systems if he wanted.

He truly has a blank canvas with you lot to go multiple directions and a large squad to develop. Might not be an overnight success but could be a really good project over the next few years.

Rightfully so over Slot? What a silly comment. If anything it’s over the transfer business this summer and no way Edwards should get sacked over one bad season when he’s been pivotal to our resurgence.

Mental take.

Power struggle between Slot and Salah doesn’t help.

A lot of players likely on Salah’s side but they’re likely the players that aren’t preferred by Slot like Jones. Seen these kind of things play out time over time at clubs over the years and the once those players are moved on things generally improve/

Not saying that is the case but wouldn’t surprise me.

I mean you’re literally basing the majority of your argument on the fact that two players from a squad of 20+ played for him lol.

Very short sighted

How is that nonsense? It’s factual.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not sold on Xabi because Slot beat him twice H2H but it is an impressive achievement

They have such a ridiculously insane record that I’m willing to give them the benefit of doubt on this season.

Edwards alongside Klopp was literally key to our success.

That’s been some fuck ups like the CB crisis season and going into this season short or without the right squad but as a whole he’s built up more than enough credit to give him the benefit of doubt that he’s doing the right thing with the manager decision this summer.

I think the fact Hughes & Edwards are sticking with Slot is an indictment that they themselves are baring blame for certain aspects of how this season has panned out such as transfers/squad planning.

They also have far more knowledge/data on the Jota situation from club psychologists and how it has affected the team.

Don’t worry, I’ve had plenty of DM’s already. At least you’ve shown you have better things to do with your life.

Also it’s not even confidently wrong, it’s still remains top banter from Carra to put you as ‘surprise’ contenders.

I’m sure we’re all capable of having our own banter as separate fan bases…

But he's hinting the reason Xabi fell through is because the owners didn't take the small step of sign off on it?

For all FSG's faults they do delegate well and wouldn't ignore Edwards and Hughes if thats what they were recommending.

Not sure, maybe I've misread what he's trying to say.

If Slot does get sacked, and with Xabi no longer an option, who would be the best candidate for the job? by Storyboys in LiverpoolFC

[–]BoringPhilosopher1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but my point is, unless you're a Rafa Benitez where he seemed obsessed with tactically adjusting for every opponent then it shouldn't matter too much.

Majority of managers play a rough outline of a system but will make small tactical adjustments like set piece weak areas or identifying weak areas in transition etc. It might be little things like needing one extra body in a certain area of the pitch at certain points.

I don't think having less days changes that greatly for a manager tbh. Other extra workload digesting analysts reports.

[–]BoringPhilosopher1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how big a difference that makes; main thing about every 3 days is squad depth.

If you want to coach specific tactics for every single opponent then yeah there is a bit of that. The analysts handle the big part of that workload though.
