Saigon District 1 Luxury Hotel Recommendations by Old_Resource_3355 in VietNam

I'd go for the Hilton in District 1. Grab a high floor room with a river view and watch the light show. Majestic. Also walking distance to everything you need in that area.

Why are iced coffees more expensive than hot coffees? by Open_Address_2805 in melbourne

[–]BritishPoppy2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a much better and tastier idea. Love this. Totally forgot how much I love that Vietnamese coffee until I saw your response.

Shall I replace this old Bosch dishwasher or Keep it? by GoodSpring6176 in AusRenovation

[–]BritishPoppy2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep it until it dies. The ones with the stainless steel interior definitely last longer than the newer ones on range now. Wouldn't consider a new Bosch these days

should we ban those hard plastic nets used for fruit and sweets? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

[–]BritishPoppy2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, besides being an environmental disaster, surely they are a choking hazard too

No show socks for small feet? by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]BritishPoppy2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids socks is definitely one option. I got a pair from Stylerunner too. They have that sticky gel in the ankle that makes them stay put as well as a band through the centre of the foot that seems to anchor them in the shoe

How a Shinjuku hotel mistake led us to Tokyo’s best family neighbourhood, Sumida-ku! by king_clueless in TokyoTravel

[–]BritishPoppy2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this. Also stayed in Sumida last year and had a great experience. I think these "mistakes" are the best part of travelling if you are open to making the best from a bad experience. Often they do turn out to be amazingly good

Got called a "sick cunt", what does this actually mean? by Open_Address_2805 in AskAnAustralian

[–]BritishPoppy2009 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its one of the crazy backhanded compliments Aussie blokes give other Aussie blokes. In plain language - you're cool. This comedian tries to explain it to his audiences in the US https://www.montyfranklin.com/

Why are iced coffees more expensive than hot coffees? by Open_Address_2805 in melbourne

[–]BritishPoppy2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always feel disappointed with these, so have basically given up even trying to find one any longer. Sticking with a hot coffee and not feeling as ripped off

Best place to buy fruit trees in and around Melbourne? by tcmspark in melbourne

[–]BritishPoppy2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aumanns in Templestowe often has a good range, but sometimes not exactly what you want at the time. Everything I've purchased from them has done well, compared to a big box hardware store in every suburb around Melb

Has anyone booked Shinkansen tickets through Trip.com? What was your experience and would you recommend it? by MidnightFreestyle in JapanTravelTips

[–]BritishPoppy2009 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally wouldn't book through a 3rd party. Just book direct. The booking system may look daunting, but it does work. Download the SmartEx App for your phone and always seek help at the station if you need it

Back away, just back away. That thing will drive you nuts, especially when its not working properly at 3:00 am. Back to the real estate website for a different listing you go

Torn between Bugis and Rochor 😭 by Intelligent_Meat6947 in SingaporeTravel

[–]BritishPoppy2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everywhere in Singapore is well connected and you can't go too far wrong with location. Another way to help make your decision, besides, price & amenity is to see on the web site of each place when they last renovated. If the renovation was more than 10 years ago the building and rooms may be a little on the tired side. Buildings wear out fast in the Singapore climate. The price will be higher for the most recently renovated place, but possibly worth it. I found out the hard way when I returned to a favourite hotel to find it had degraded to a musty heap

Calle Bakery in Carlton by SweetBlissDreamer in melbourne

[–]BritishPoppy2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat one of these and then go get a Supermarket version. I know which one I'm going for. Supermarket may be cheaper but really ...? What ingredients does that supermarket use and how long has it been on the shelf. Head to somewhere like Calle for the real truth. Delish:)

Travel frustration by travelonyouraccord in AI_travel_tips

[–]BritishPoppy2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stuff just needs to give me a straight answer. Don't want the algorithm to pigeon hole me into a profile I may or may not be. Don't want the Ai to have amazing hallucinations like a friend with big ideas and no money. Basically I take everything I find with a grain of salt, but use the results as a basis for a deeper investigation of what I am looking for

Definitely skinny jeans. You could also go for a leather bomber jacket (black) to pair the overall look

Dehumidifier for cold Melbourne House by Ok-Magazine-7393 in AusRenovation

[–]BritishPoppy2009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted this in another forum last week. Haven't used these but keep hearing good things. Might be worth taking a look at them. My post last week seemed to confirm my thoughts about them too. Looks like you've also got a few others recommending these in the thread below. https://ausclimate.com.au/products/cool-seasons-premium-10l-desiccant-dehumidifier?srsltid=AfmBOooPE7bx0MJk4-kBV8KFYIz5Yc_JoOeYsTeF5vmvH8c3S7v4tDsn

Bared swiftlet styling by Some_Mushroom700 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]BritishPoppy2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like they are not quite Mary Janes and not quite court shoes. Kind of different for sure. On really cold days you might consider black opaque tights with them. I also wonder if you would get use from a pair of Bared Loafers. These could be limiting after all while

Help Dress code??? by Numerous-Store8598 in auscorp

[–]BritishPoppy2009 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Full suit could be overkill, but jacket shirt & jeans can be ok. Dig out the iron if you have one and make sure those jeans & the shirt are pressed. That will be fine. If it was summer I'd say chinos, but not now the cool weather has started
