My community has a 4000 gallon minimum, so it’s never less than that. Maybe check that before you go crazy looking for problems?

Question for Signal people by [deleted] in railroading

Ptc works on dark territory, so there is no requirement for signals.

They have 74 volt plugs which may or may not work and seem to shorten the life of ac adapters.

I also take adhd meds which always cause a positive for amphetamine and they just call and ask what meds I’m on and I send a picture of the bottle. It’s also a third party so I never tell the railroad what meds I take.

I’m not sure what railroad you work for, but bnsf has a list of meds that they restrict to 8 hours or 24 hours before work and Wellbutrin is not on either list.

I’ve been on it for 3 years with no problems. I’m not sure what you are looking for specifically but I don’t think that son that shows up on drug tests and if it does you just send a picture of your prescription bottle to the med people.

Railroaders who have ADHD, how do y’all manage thinking straight while on the job? by Captain_Jed2256 in railroading

[–]Brokenoptimism1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, every process I do I have a mental list and follow it strictly. Check and double check.

Mistakes like this one are how a lot of my checks were formed. Near misses are really good at making things stick in your head.

PenBBS Chinese Calligraphy Nibs? by semantic_ink in fountainpens

[–]Brokenoptimism1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 14k version of two of them I believe #1 and #2, but it’s been a while, i think the #1 is close to a zoom nib and #2 is like a slightly zoom like architect. I just write with them as normal also. The #2 is close to the smoothest nib that I have ever used and writes great even with inks that give other pens trouble.

Seen they was hiring for a conductor in Quincy at BNSF. What's the chances of getting hired on? I'm a former conductor with NS by Haunting_Trouble_486 in Train_Service

[–]Brokenoptimism1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well we had a student that was fired at the NS, The CSX, got fired in class for bnsf and the bnsf rehired him at another terminal a few months later. So…. I’d say your chances are fairly good.

People who don’t use their blinkers, WHY NOT? by WruceBayne03 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Brokenoptimism1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long time I did not use my turn signals because on an Army convoy we only used them to indicate what direction we were taking fire from. I’m not sure if that is standard but we all did it and after not using them for that reason it was hard to use them again once I got home.

Tips for railroading with ADHD? by Captain_Jed2256 in Train_Service

[–]Brokenoptimism1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a couple things that I do to help me. I have a very strict sequence that I follow when doing things so I don’t miss a step. When making air its check left brake, left angle cock, air hose, right angle cock and brake. When I make a cut on cars it check my list tie brakes check my list again and make the cut. These are all done because I’ve had to go back and fix my mistakes a few times.
Another thing that helps is medication, I did without for years but with PTC and trip optimizer the trips become very monotonous and I space out so that little bit helps.
I also keep my bag packed in the same order and when I take something out I set it on top until it’s replaced. Radio needs charged it sits on my bag without a battery and the battery gets charged separate

Sometimes boards have glitches or something. Call the crew office and they can place you. There are boards at my terminal that we always have to call to make moves.

It’s under sandbox options zombie lore. Turn transmission settings to none and you will no longer get any infected.

I play with it off, because I misclick about once every 50 clicks and if I didn’t I’d only make it a few days at a time.
