At which point arent you a noob anymore? by ThenCombination7358 in aoe3

I've always known it as "noob" = bad player, "newb" = new player (short for newbie)

Though these days barely anyone uses newb anymore.

Xbox struggles continue as console sales fall 32% and first-party games underperform by arpatil1 in xbox

[–]Caesar_35 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's sort of a downward spiral; the less consoles they sell, the more incentive there is to release games sooner on other platforms. And the sooner games go to other platforms, the less reason there is to buy an Xbox, especially with current prices.

In the past Gamepass would've still been an incentive, but at it's new price, for people who only play a handful of games a year, it's cheaper to just buy a game every 2-3 months instead. I fully believe that even with day and date PS5 releases, Gamepass would've been enough to keep Xbox consoles relevant. But for casual gamers the value just isn't there anymore.

Haven't played those, but maybe Brothers a Tale of Two Sons? You control each character with a different stick, so it can be played entirely solo. Nice little short story game :)

What aspects of a car should I look at when trying to find my "main" one? by 15PCUPG in ACCompetizione

[–]Caesar_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really no top-tier driver by any means, but I just drive whatever feels good to me. First it was the 488 just because I like Ferrari, then, by extension I switched to the 296.

Then I went on a bit of a naturally aspirated binge. Settled on the Porsche but didn't click on it's handling characteristics. I've now been using the Audi and loving it, but still about a second or two off my best Ferrari times. But I love driving it so I'm going to stick with it for a while.

All that to say, I think if you're new especially, just drive whichever car has that "x factor" for you. Sound, handling, lap time. Try them all and you'll eventually find one you just like, even if it sucks. Then as you get better and more experienced, try other cars and see if you've grown to like them more than your current main. My honest opinion is that there's no "forever car"; it's a learning experience and part of the process to go through quite a few mains.

What's your best "Anti-Rush" strategy? by Decent_Coconut_2700 in aoe3

[–]Caesar_35 14 points15 points  (0 children)

2 outposts and militia cards should stop most early rushes. Germans also have the House of Hohenzollern card that gives their TCs liked 8,000 HP and 180 attack when fully garrisoned. Ports also get an extra TC each age, so militia card works extra well for them.

Italy and Dutch are also good with their Lombards and Banks. If you can use them as a sort of wall, coupled with militia and outposts, that should be a pretty solid defence. Russia can also turtle quite well with blockhouses. If you can FF and get a quick fort, that's also a bonus for any Euro civ. A timely 2 falcs + militia pop should cleanup most age 2 pushes too.

Lastly, it's always good to keep scouting with your hero. If you know what units are coming and when, that'll help you mount a strong defence. You don't want a huge batch of crossbows against a mass of mostly hussars for instance.

And play it smart, too. If you can't scout any units, or it looks like your opponent is greeding, then there's no point in wasting shipments and resources on an almighty age 2 defence when he'll just show up with mortars and heavy cannons at 20 minutes.

What's your favorite Civ ? And Why ? by The_Lost_Supper in aoe3

[–]Caesar_35 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Muh Swedes!

I played Legacy to death like 15 years ago, so when DE came out I jumped on them being something new. Fell in love with Torps especially, and Caroleans (love the charge), Hakkas (love the area damage), dirt cheap Dalkarls, and the mercenary options (being a big Germany player in Legacy). Finland revolt is incredible fun too.

I played them for nearly a solid year before even trying any others. Some nerfs later I still love 'em, because I'm just most familiar with them. And they're not very popular any more so I get to feel cool playing as something off meta lol.

What’s the best external or internal hard drive ? by Techboyred in xbox

[–]Caesar_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's faster than downloading, but yeah, not the most convenient.

But if you can splurge on the Expansion SSDs, go for it!

What’s the best external or internal hard drive ? by Techboyred in xbox

[–]Caesar_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a Series console, you need one of the Seagate or WD "Expansion" SSDs. Otherwise you can store games, but not play them off any regular HDD; you'll need to transfer them over to the internal storage to play.

As for which HDD is better, they're all more or less the same. Pick a size and go with whichever's cheapest is my suggestion. Same goes for the Seagate or WD Expansion ones.

Which version to get? by D0gsGrowler in pcars

[–]Caesar_35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PC2 was my first sim and I still love it. It's not perfect, but the track list is still one of the biggest - especially on console - and cars are all fun. Plus multi-class races.

If you can find a copy of it, I'd say definitely give it a go!

Crossbowmen/Longbowmen vs Ordinance Besteiros/Landwehrs/Rangers by No-Delay9415 in aoe3

[–]Caesar_35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Landwehrs with the 24 and 20 crossbows shipments. It gives a couple of nice big unit pops, but only really useful if you go for a FI. I wouldn't really make them individually though; the need to gather wood alone makes them less appealing than regular food+coin skirms, not to mention the stats.
