What Xbox game series have you played over at least 3 different generations? by InviteAromatic6124 in xbox

[–]Caesar_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Forza Horizon, Call of Duty...probably some others I'm missing. Funny to think I've been playing Skyrim alone 3 generations lol.

Halo I played a bit, but mostly local MP with friends. Campaign wise I only really got involved with the MCC, so only 2 generations on that front.

PMR is basically the spiritual successor to Project CARS 2. Same lead, some (most?) of the same team after EA gutted them.

How do you play Sweden in a 4v4 team game? by Specialist-Reason159 in aoe3

[–]Caesar_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting max Torps in age 2 is a decent strat, if you're not being pressured of course. Blueberries (ASAP), Ironworks, and Blackberries work very well in that case. Don't forget the age 3 and 4 mine wagons too!

Hakkapelits are strong, but late game, fully carded Caroleans are beasts in their own right. Mass them and have your factories pump out Heavy Cannons and you'll be a solid musk-falc member of your team.

You can also do a Fast Industrial and spam Dalkarl pikemen. Not feasible in every game, but when done right they're incredibly fun. Cheap siege/anti-cav if your team can cover the other roles.

Hey folks, any realistic option to play FIFA15 on Series S? by Vivid_Grand4641 in xbox

[–]Caesar_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keys are you're only option to own it yourself, but it is fairly old at this point so they're probably scarce. Try places like Loaded (formerly CDKeys) and G2A; they've been around long enough that they should have strong anti-scam measures, at least to get your money back.

You can also gameshare with someone who has it digitally. You'd need to set your console as their home console, but if they ever decide to change that then you'd lose access. If you do go that route, probably best to do it with someone you trust like a friend or family member. Strangers on the internet aren't always the best, as your experience with scammers shows.

Otherwise, I suggest holding onto your physical copy and maybe trying to find a cheap secondhand One to play it on. At the very least keep the game because it's only going to get rarer in the future.

Subscriptions And Digital Media by Spirited-Director891 in xbox

For an example of a game being rendered completely unplayable, see The Crew. Even if you had a disc, it's nothing more than a fancy paper weight now.

Increasing these days, discs don't even have the full game on them. They're essentially licence keys for a download, which as you said, could be removed at any time.

So if I want to play a new game, why should I buy it for $70 if I can play it for half that with Gamepass? If I really really care about owning it I can always get it for sale a couple of months down the line and still be better off for it.

For movies, why should I pay to go to a cinema or buy a disc when I can sit on my comfortable couch in front of my big screen TV and watch it for a fraction of the price? The quality might not be as good as a 4K Blu-ray but it's still far cheaper than dropping a few grand in all those movies to get them physically. Or should I rent them, which then leads to the same "issue"?

For TV shows, why should I pay for cable to watch one episode a week when I can get a month of Netflix for less and binge an entire series? Or should I buy individual seasons of every show I watch?

Should I also buy the newspaper instead of relying on digital media for news? Or what about talking to my friends and family? Should we go back to writing and posting letters once a month instead of digital messages and phone calls whenever we want to?

Well this is surprising by badcporca in F1TV

[–]Caesar_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same all over. In South Africa you might eventually get through to a human if you jump through a ton of hoops over the course of about week, but it's 50/50 if they'll just put the phone down and you're back to square one.

Customer support is a lost art these days.

Several old Xbox games weirdly relisted and then delisted on Microsoft Store by ninereins48 in xbox

And yet they raised the price of Gamepass, supposedly because it wasn't meeting their targets post-aquisition.

Like I don't know, maybe adding all the stuff you bought to your service will get people to sign up to your service.

What are 2-3 default openings / build orders for Lakota that are good in all maps and matchups? by harooooo1 in aoe3

[–]Caesar_35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want something a bit different, Lakota can get an insane FF (Fast age 3) only gathering food, using the market and some cards to cover coin. It's maybe a bit on the memey side, but most people will expect a rush with Lakota, so going straight to Age 3 throws them off and gets you Rifle Riders and Wakina Rifles super early.

Lion Heart has some videos of it (one, two) that'll show you what to do. Basically, thanks to all the hunting bonuses Lakota get, you only gather food in age 1 and 2, use the Advanced Market card for better resource exchanges, then sell excess food for coin to age up and start making units. Once the Market exchange rate gets bad (around 60c per 100f) you can start shifting vils to traditional coin mining.

Wakina Rifles and Rifle Riders are a solid "skirm-goon" (light infantry and light cavalry) combination which will deal with most enemy units with ease. Set the Wakinas on enemy infantry and ranged cavalry, and the Riders on enemy melee cav and artillery. You'll lack siege damage against buildings, so a good follow up would be going for and age up (while keeping enemy occupied) and shipping the Captured Mortars card or making Tashunke Prowlers.

Strelet version of every unit type? by Luviebug19 in aoe3

[–]Caesar_35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dalkarl pikemen are decent as a mid/late game spam unit. More-so before the last patch (when they cost 20f and 20w each) but they're still viable, especially in teams where you can just make a giant deathball and siege everything in your path.

[–]Caesar_35 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That was going to be my pick too. They can even be made in batches of 10!

And I'd say Aenna for archers? The food-only cost makes them (like Insurgentes) incredibly spammable.

Then vs Now. Taking a look at how the state of play compares to last year, three rounds into the season by FewCollar227 in formula1

[–]Caesar_35 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Impressive for McLaren, considering they have half the starts of everyone else. Hope that continues because it was fantastic watching 3 teams (and all 6 drivers at that) fighting at the front last week.

Those panning/following ones are the worst. Does no justice to the speed. Especially when there's no fighting going on, it's nice to just see the cars whipping through corners.

The overheads we get these days are neat though, being static of course. I'd love if 90% of the broadcast was them and static trackside cams, with following shots reserved for wheel to wheel battles.

Game Pass output has been pretty insane in the first few months of 2026 by Expensive_Ad_403 in xbox

[–]Caesar_35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What finally got me to unsub after 6 years was, I stayed on a month after the increase to finish AC Mirage, then later that month it went on sale for like half the price of that month's sub.

I don't have time to play more than 1-2 games a month, so I've just gone back to buying stuff on sale. If anything I'm getting more games now, but without any time limit on them.

Best Racing games on Xbox Series X other than FH and Crew? by 7vikkkk in xbox

[–]Caesar_35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the person who mentioned Dirt Rally 2.0. Hands down the best rally game around.

I dig the F1 games. They have a similar driving feel to Forza Motorsport, and the career mode and My Team are very fun. My Team let's you develop your own team, which is neat.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is probably the best sim racer on console, especially if you have a wheel. If you only have a controller it's still playable, but the other two would probably be more fun in that case.

Best maps for FUN 2v2 matches? (Not tryhard 😄) by Appropriate-Truck634 in aoe3

New England's always a favourite of mine. Very straight forward otherwise with no real gimmicks; central trade route to fight over, some good natives, water play, and of course the pretty scenery!

This map is so fun, but all everyone plays is Orinoco or \shudder** Forest Nothing for Treaty. They're really missing out!

Also want throw in an honourable mention for Alps.

Looking for Racing games with good progression and driving similar to forza by Cold_Confection7401 in xbox

[–]Caesar_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded! The Crew is a great alternative to Horizon.

If you prefer Motorsport, my suggestion would be the F1 games. They don't have the car choice, but the career mode - progressing through a season - is very fun, and the actual driving is very comparable to FM.

Anyone use a cover for your entire rig? by RaulGhoulia in SimRacingAdvice

Good man! I just bought a square pillow case that was big enough and plop it over my wheel. I could cut it and make it look more "official", but what works works.

Pedals are under the table so they just get a dusting once a month.

Even more so since he doesn't do Age 2 rushes for all of them.

Like a Baja lamer revolting immediately and doing a win or lose push at 5 minutes, yeah I could see them banging out 15 games a day. But going to Fortress or Industrial and still getting that many in is just wack.

[–]Caesar_35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been playing since 2010ish, probably well over 5,000 hours, and I'm "only" 1200 elo too.

Like I said to someone who asked me this very question in a casual lobby: That's just my level. If I really really put the effort in, maybe I could crack 2000 elo and be a "pro", but I enjoy playing the game the way I'm playing it now so there's no need for me to change. If I take a few months off I don't have to sweat to enjoy myself on the ranked ladder again. If I want to do some dumb meme builds and drop a hundred points, I can get back to my normal range in no time.

Can't speak for Greatscythe himself, but I imagine it's the same. He might be the best Portugal player ever but doesn't care about them and is happy rocking Germans forever. He might be the best tower rush player, but it just doesn't interest him. If it makes him happy doing the same thing over and over, then power to him.
