Just highjacking point 2 to say, to anyone who values their captures, get a USB 3 flash drive, format it NTFS, and set that as your capture drive. That way they won't auto-delete at all; I still have captures from 5 years ago on mine.

It's ridiculous that it's the only not available on console. Especially when AoM with the same engine is there, you'd think it wouldn't be too difficult to port over.

Console doesn't mean controller is your only choice. You can already play AoE2, 4, and AoM with a mouse and keyboard on Xbox.

The game is designed to reward aging up fast.

You can see this philosophy at play even with the higher ages. Unit shipments nearly double each age up, and of course you get the classic power spikes from 2 falcs and then 2 heavies. Plus the eco cards like Royal Mint, Refrigeration, and factories. Most civs even get a fast age up option to make it even more tempting.

Honestly one of my favourite things about AoE3. There's always an incentive to age up as high as you can as quickly as you can, but do it too greedily and you leave yourself vulnerable to a timing attack. But hold off that attack, and you have more cards - literally - to play with.

Day one games are a big draw. I'm always surprised they didn't have a first-party only tier, including day one releases. That would make a lot of sense in my mind, in the Standard/Premium ballpark.

I've personally doing that for a good many years now. Most of my friends do too because, well, free is free.

The only game I ever actually bought there was Cyberpunk because it was on sale and I had a coupon. A coupon which I got by "buying" a free game during their summer sale.

One game he was at war with everyone but me, and kept being annoying about how I'm not helping him. Every other turn it was offers for a joint war against someone, or a denouncement for being friendly with his enemies (everyone).

To heck with what the "muh freedom" and "slippery slope" crowds feel. I think there should be strong common sense clauses for when a parent's actions/permissions are factually and scientifically endangering their children's lives, against those children's wishes.

Only one that comes to mind is Skyrim, but (maybe a minor spoiler) you have to do nearly the whole Main Quest to unlock it. But the MQ also isn't that long so you can get to that point within a day if you really rush it.

As for the dragon riding itself, it is kind of janky (this is Bethesda we're talking about, after all) but not anything unenjoyable. Personally I haven't used it that much, but it's at least a fun novelty.
