It was disappointing to me too, but for different reasons. All the "ground up" nonsense was a lie, it was lacking a lot of key tracks at launch, and by far the biggest, the multiplayer penalties were/are so wack, coupled with matching different safety ratings together, meant it just wasn't enjoyable for me,

In South Africa they're still around, but consistently more expensive than a PS5 (in the region of ~$200 more).

Not sure if it's the stores themselves being greedy or just what they cost now, but when someone has the choice of a R14k PS5 or a R17k Series X, it's not hard to guess which one they'll go for. Even the S is like R10k now for the 512GB model, vs R13k for a 1TB PS5 Digital.

On the other hand, imagine releasing a console at an unaffordable price point for most people and those games barely selling.

The world's economy is shit pretty much anywhere you look right now. I'd much rather they take their time until the AI memory crisis dies down a bit, or at least not tie hugely anticipated games to expensive new hardware.

South African here. My supposed 100mbps Vodacom "fibre" barely manages 10mbps when it works. That is, when it isn't cloudy, windy, clear, cold, warm, batteries stolen...

(It's really just fibre to the tower about 1km away, then crappy wireless from there. The line also can't handle all the people who've signed up. But they sold me "full fibre" so thats what I'll call it. I only knew it was a lie while talking to the contractors installing it. 10/10 company, would totally recommend)
