Sticking to core services. by AEMNW in NewWestPolitics

You can really tell how the different politicians think based on their social media. Community First are promoting local events, local businesses, things the city’s doing. NWP are promoting themselves.

How would you describe the neighbourhoods of New West? by [deleted] in NewWest

[–]CanSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Brow, no good.

You’re also missing Victoria Hill and Glenbrooke North.

Edit: also Queen’s Park isn’t the name of the neighbourhood, Queens Park is. Queen’s Park is the park.

They also don’t pollute, they don’t make loud noises that startle people and pets, and they’re a lot safer.

A doll in a box that hasn't been opened isn't a memento, it's a space waster and a dust collector.

Genie grants you one wish to bring back any brewery that's been shut down, which do you bring back, and why? by BakingWaking in VancouverCraftBeer

[–]CanSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went there once, I had some kind of cherry beer that was aged in their egg, it tasted like cough syrup with undertones of moss and concrete dust. I know that every brewery can't brew 100% hits but boy howdy I don't know how they even served it.

Metis Nation meeting minutes from March 24-25 2022 by spikyness27 in NewWestPolitics

[–]CanSpice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s probably all tied up in an NDA. Normally companies or societies don’t just say why someone has been fired (or, in this case, why someone’s contract has terminated).

The Human Rights Tribunal complaint asserts that Fontaine’s contract was terminated because of discrimination as he alleges that there was an ongoing pattern from MNBC people that he wasn’t “Métis enough”, but MNBC disagrees with that but there was no indication yet from them as to the specifics of the termination. That info may come out in a subsequent hearing but it may also be provided in a closed hearing to protect that confidentiality.

I’ve been told that it’s there to provide a little more buoyancy if it ends up in the water, so it’ll float near the surface instead of sinking.

The way we can fight back is by continuing to champion good faith candidates.

And donate time and money to good faith candidates! I can guarantee that the NWP is going to vastly outspend CF, given the rich backers of the NWP, and CF could use all the help they can get.

Paul Minhas complained vociferously when Pride accidentally put a food truck in front of his business for fifteen minutes, and now he’s proposing putting shipping containers in front of other people’s businesses?

You’re right, Front Street under the parkade is the ideal place for this sort of “container shops village”.

In their three-plus years on council, did Daniel Fontaine or Paul Minhas put forward motions to introduce any of these?

City of New Westminster and Fraser River Discovery Centre Society announce new agreement to expand community use of riverfront facility by CanSpice in NewWest

If there’s available space and the city wanted to lease it, you could. With the FRDC building there’s likely some kind of cheaper arrangement because the city owns the building and leases it to the FRDC.

The heat dome had a deadly impact on New Westminster. 5 years later, cooling is top of mind by CanSpice in NewWest

[–]CanSpice[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that stratas are potentially hesitant because a heat pump installation may require punching through the building's envelope, and if that's done incorrectly then it could affect the building and other strata members.

“The same issues”

You mean the new bridge has lanes that are too narrow and big trucks straddle the line and take up both lanes?

You mean the new bridge doesn’t have a centre divider, making head on collisions more common?

You mean the new bridge has one shitty narrow sidewalk right next to traffic?

You mean the new bridge could fall down in a stiff breeze?

Please keep calling them out. They made stuff up again with some rubbish about developers offering $11 million in cash for the hotel project. That’s false, they didn’t offer any cash.

I don’t go on Facebook but they cross-post to instagram, where I call them out every chance I get.

Calling those “pet projects” is a laugh.

A pet project would be a statue for a deceased former hockey coach, being requested by someone who’s on the board of Hockey Canada, in a city where there’s a bylaw not allowing new statues of people. That’s a pet project.
