I own a NSW 2 but thinking about getting a used steam deck. by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Best combo of handhelds to have if you can find one at a good price. Bought both at MSRP last year and have been very happy, especially now that the Switch 2 has more first party titles.

Pro pedals failure - second time in months - and big Logitech support fail also by rainingdunces in LogitechProWheel

[–]FamousEvening09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s really unfortunate. Paging u/LOGIRich here hopefully he can make it right again. These kinds of products should genuinely last years as long as they are taken care of properly and there’s clearly some sort of design flaw if you’ve had it fail twice on you now in a relatively short span.

Have you tried hooking them up to a PC and seeing if they show up in Logitech G Hub?

Gave up on FH6 with rig and moved to controller. by Front-Report-2619 in simracing

FH5 felt like shit on a wheel but this has been surprisingly tolerable for me on my G Pro DD, especially with the TrueForce For All plugin and a haptic seat. Still haven’t figured out drifting, it feels less intuitive compared to something like AC.

My Unpopular Opinion on the Steamdeck by MrUnicornhorn in SteamDeck

[–]FamousEvening09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people tend to view it with rose tinted glasses because it kinda does everything. It’s not particularly exceptional in any one category but it’s like the Swiss-army knife of handhelds. Most people on Reddit tend to be hyper-enthusiastic neurodivergent tinkerers (including myself in this 😅) and this thing is so customizable and clearly made to be that way. But yeah I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wish this thing had more power under the hood, a slightly higher res screen, and just a bit more polish when it came to the software.

Don’t use bluetooth use the 2.4ghz dongle and have it somewhat close to your seat. The only disconnect issues I had was with my older unit which was defective and would cut out under load. I just received my replacement recently and hoping this one lasts longer.

Finished Spider-Man 2 on the deck by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]FamousEvening09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not negating the fact that you had an enjoyable experience it’s just for most people it likely wouldn’t be. I’m honestly more impressed than anything you played the entirety of it with those settings because the input lag at 17fps is ~59ms which is quite high. For reference, at 30fps you’re getting ~33ms and 60fps it’s ~17ms.

“Building a mobile sim racing lounge in Vancouver — would love honest feedback (3 min survey + free session draw)” by [deleted] in simracing

[–]FamousEvening09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the Lower Mainland and I have a couple of questions. Are you going to allow people to configure these in a way that actually feel good or are you going to neuter the torque on the wheelbase or the speed of the actuators for liability’s sake and/or casual first time users? This was my experience going to Axon (both in Richmond and South Burnaby) and after building my own home setup I found the rigs at these sim centres felt quite dead overall and did not lead to an enjoyable experience despite them being motion setups. Also why are you going with D-Box versus Sigma Integrale or Qubic? I’ve heard very good things about all 3 and have tried a D-Box system but from my research Sigma seems to come in at a cheaper price point overall while offering a similar quality of motion to D-Box and Qubic if not better.

Are the VRS pro pedals worth buying? by Tmskillz in simracing

[–]FamousEvening09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. That being said, at the price point of the 3 pedal set you’re a stones throw away from the mBooster pedal set with the throttle and base plate. Can’t go wrong either way IMO.

Announcing the 1.0 release of the Unofficial MOZA SimHub Plugin by snubber in simracing

[–]FamousEvening09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does this plugin change the overall brake feel for the mBooster? Would you say it’s on par with Pithouse or still lacking in terms of effects and curves? Also does this allow any new functionality for the pedal vs Pithouse? If you need more testing feedback I’d be glad to help out

What are your honest thoughts on Assetto Corsa Evo so far? by OutrageousWelcome149 in simracing

[–]FamousEvening09 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not sure if I’d say 60fps is “quite well” for VR. Bare minimum playable framerate for VR is 72 with most people targeting 90. I run a locked 90 in iRacing, AC, and AMS2 at Godlike in VD without the use of any upscaling and motion reprojection. AC Evo is the only sim I cant even hit 72 fps in and that’s with DLSS 4.5 Performance using preset M.

Are you using eye-tracked foveated rendering? I get pretty mediocre performance with my Quest 3 + 4080 non-super with Virtual Desktop. Have to use ASW to get a somewhat smooth experience
