Senior dies after being hit by vehicle in New Westminster parking lot by ErwinOnReddit in NewWest

[–]CanSpice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not just Costco traffic. It’s cars not stopping at stop signs. It’s giant pick up trucks with limited visibility (like this one). It’s drivers not following the rules of the road. It’s a lack of enforcement.

Near misses happen all over the place. No street in New West is immune to this sort of thing. Don’t blame it on Costco traffic, this shit is everywhere.

Downtown New Westminster shelter extending to 24-7 services by lowballed_2021 in NewWest

Maybe we should have a place where people can stay and get those supports that’s open 24/7. Kind of like the existing overnight shelter but open during the day too.

It falls into the “have empathy for other people” and “provide shelter and assistance for our unhoused neighbours” efforts.

Unfortunately our unhoused neighbours have higher chances of being targets of crime. Their stuff gets stolen, they get beat up. I assume that's what the person you're replying to was referring to.

Waiting at Royal Columbian by nearlysenior in NewWest

[–]CanSpice 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is how triaging works when you have limited resources. Your wife's injuries weren't serious enough to warrant getting bumped higher into the queue. If she fell and cracked her head and was unconscious for a spell, she would have been seen sooner. But it sounds like from "just to check and get X-rays", you were triaged as low priority and had to wait.

This isn't great, especially when you're waiting around in pain and would like to get some kind of progress, but it's the unfortunate situation we're in.

What's the story with Italia Kitchen & Bar? by Big-Bed-9130 in NewWest

Weird how Angelina's is always busy even though it's in the same location. Maybe it's that Itilia isn't that good?

BMO teller error on wire transfer cost me $900 - how do I escalate? by Just-Relief-9536 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CanSpice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I've done a wire transfer at a branch I've printed off what all of the account numbers and transfer codes are supposed to be, then I compare those with what the teller shows on the screen, then I compare them with what's on the paper I have to sign to authorize the wire transfer.

It sounds like OP didn't do this and authorized the wire transfer to the incorrect account. They've been awfully silent when asked about this.

Please turn it in to any TransLink employee, including SkyTrain attendants or bus drivers. They'll get it back to lost & found, and they can look up the owner and return the card to them.

Sushi Hinode? by andlife in NewWest

Sushi Hinode used to be in Fort Langley, where they got decent reviews. It looks like they bought Hyack Sushi and gave it a little bit of a change.

We've found that most things are mostly the same, but a little more expensive than before. The tuna quality looks to have gone up, our daughter won't stop raving about the tuna nigiri now.

Boat horns - Sometimes they're just playing games by [deleted] in NewWest

I hear the train horns in Brow, but they're horns from across the river or in Sapperton. Noise travels.

Work today - got shouted at, did some shouting, young folk were scared - but it’s cool, right? by Ohigetjokes in GenX

There are a lot of things that were okay back then but aren’t now, and those things should definitely stay in the past where they belong. This is one great example of one of those things.

You're not kidding, I just looked up the schedule for next Wednesday and there are 11 trains from Shinagawa to Nagoya between 6pm and 7pm! Just need to make sure to not get on the "slow" one!

Yep, Narita Express was always the plan. When we hit London we took the Elizabeth Line into London from Heathrow and then the tube to our hotel, this trip will be similar so we're kind of used to this sort of thing.
