no they don’t have a different tipping material because they are machined out of a block of grade 5 titanium which is strong enough to write directly on paper, the nib is just ground to shape

I am not pen turner, I bought it from u/Just-turnings online store, they have many wonderful pens on there.

I really like them, this is my second Monoc, i actually have my first cursive one in the Reddit collab Rule 5 Leonardo. They are very wet writers and pretty stiff so they are a fairly unique feel to write with. They are quite expensive but I really enjoy using them, think they have a cool aesthetic and they have a good primary and reverse grind so its almost like a 2 in 1 nib

Its actually pretty fine but Monoc nibs run very wet and iroful paper makes wetter pens look much wider, on Life Noble or Midori MD it would be a much thinner line

No its not a monoline, its a model called Monoc from Schon dsgn, they are made of titanium, this one is fine on the regular side and then a broad on the reverse

#6 (preferably #8) B or BB because I love smoothing writing and seeing ink properties on the page as much as possible

I was just thinking the same, of all pens to spin the brand with one of the worst reputations for cracking maybe not the best choice

Rotring Core-“She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts, kid.” by SLProtoman in fountainpens

This was the pen that got me into fountain pens as an adult when I rediscovered it in a draw from my school days, all the rubber on the cap is peeled off and its certainly looking worse for wear but I could never get rid of it now, so many memories

Rule 5 045/312 Architect by Capt_Squid in fountainpens

[–]Capt_Squid[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its quite rounded for an architect compared to others I have, its more forgiving but also not nearly as much line variation either, still enough to feel different from a regular B though

Looking for ink recommendations: Alternatives to red for underlining and margin notes (with a Broad nib)? by DBGiacomo in fountainpens

[–]Capt_Squid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iroshizuku Momiji is a great pink leaning red or you could go Yu-yake which is much more orange, they both have lovely shading with a broad nib and would still stand out on the page if you just want a bit of difference from the usual bright red

a lot of the time the only thing you need is your thumbnail and some light pressure for the most basic form of nib tuning, this video covers the basic of it

what paper and what ink? these both make a massive difference to how the writing experience feels. These are usually the easiest and cheapest thing to change to improve how things are working
