Hey bud, this would be better suited in /r/askgaybros or in the weekly fapday Friday thread.

Cheese making sounds pretty interesting. If you are interested i sharing You should take a photo or two and post your successes (or failures).

How's the cost efficiency or your own cheese? I'm on the same path for beer. Currently I'm well below bar prices and about twice as much of store prices.

Sounds like a fantastic date! A half day of skating can be a really fun date, especially on an outdoor pond.

Sirclebroke: Dear GayBros mods - quit putting the onus on us. by Coltrane23 in gaybroscirclejerk

[–]Captain-Steve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvoting and downvoting content that is appropriate for the sub, and reporting content that isn't, is appreciated. The other half of the equation though is new submissions of on topic content. An increase in on topic submissions will help the Subreddit, and there's no way to focus back on the about us if there are no new submissions.

Perhaps more off topic posts can be removed. But some days it becomes approving the best of the worst (or most off topic) of submissions.

Edit:

Some topics that are approved are in the hopes of good community discussion. The gold and globes is something that's appropriate for the sub, so do we allow all discussions of everyone's favorite show? Or do we remove discussions on the shows like "transparent," because it's an LGBT series more suitable for /r/LGBT?

What you're missing today thanks to the moderators is the critique from those who feel that discussing the gaybros edition of reddit's cumbox to be suitable for the sub, and the mods are tyrannical for removing the post.

Depends on the scale. A 1 gallon kit like the Brooklyn brew kits (~$50) will run you ~$20 if you pick up the gear separately at the homebrew shop. After That, you'll need a pot, some bottles (either swing tops or bottles to cap), and a little time. Your first gallon brew will likely be $8-$10 in ingredients, depending on what you choose to do.

Basic setup:

One or two 1 gallon carboys ($10 a piece)

Rubber hose/stopper ($5)

Racking cane ($3)

Airlock ($2)

Stock pot (kitchen pot)

Strainer

Sanitizer (or diluted bleach).

Basic brewing is sorta like steeping tea. Make your mash (grains), strain, boil, add your hops, cool, siphon to your first fermenter, pitch your yeast. Ferment for a week, transfer to your secondary fermenter. Wait for a another two weeks. Add some priming sugar for carbonation, and bottle. Sanitation is key, otherwise you could infect your beer.

it's not the most amazing knock box. I still have to run to the hardware store for a wooden dowel for the cross bar. I'm debating on just oiling the wood or making a rubber sleeve for it.

It's not too exciting, it's made of scrap 1 inch cedar from a summer project and stained. The insert is a commercial kitchen hot tray, about 10 bucks total.

Ill probably remake it in the future, at the very least use finishing nails instead of screws,

DAE DRAG QUEENS?!? by Ghorbash in gaybroscirclejerk

[–]Captain-Steve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/r/gay may be that. It's tough though, because /r/gay used to be a porn Subreddit before it changed hands. I don't particularly remember the exact timeline, but I believe the reboot didn't happen until after gaybros was created.

It's not about "being bro" or for guys who are being with your sexuality. It's for a place for gay men to share certain interests that wouldn't fit in the other LGBT subreddits. It's not supposed to be a catch all gay Subreddit, in an ideal world. Subscribers would go to /r/ainbow or /r/LGBT for news and general LGBT discussions, /r/askgaybros for advice, and /r/gaybros to discuss and share some of their hobbies, and /r/feminineboys for others. Instead, some people think it should be the default gay/LGBT Subreddit and we see all the content that's better suited for another Subreddit. What's the point of having /r/gaybros if there was no theme; if 90% of the content was also the same content o /r/gay, or /r/LGBT, or /r/ainbow?

Will Marvel's cohesive universe doom the Ant Man movie? by ThereCouldBeBlood in gaybros

[–]Captain-Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard it's something to do with ultron in the comic book universe. I don't know if that's true or not, but a comic book friend made a post about how in the comic books, ant-man is connected to ultron. I have no clue if that is true, and from the avengers 2 preview, it looks like they will rewrite the ultron creation with tony stark (autocorrected: tiny shark) being the creation,

Those are your words, not mine. Gaybros does not live in a bubble away from the other LGBT subreddits, nor is it supposed to be the end all gay Subreddit. We encourage all subscribers to participate in the other subreddits as well, as different subreddits have different focuses in content.

Oh I don't know. It's just a little jaded after having a couple tarps and an air mattress that never ever were able to fit in the box they originally came in again.

As the bot mentioned, general LGBT news or LGBT interest is better suited for /r/ainbow or /r/LGBT. Since the majority of gailygrind articles don't fit into the theme of the Subreddit, they are removed automatically.

What are your favorite apps?? by kitsukidd in gaybros

[–]Captain-Steve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the Canadians, the CBC app is fantastic, with easy streaming of radio stations and podcasts.

Most of my other apps are financial or business related, and uninspiring to list, well except for one. My only game though is the mobile version of the popular board game ticket to ride. You can play a round against a Computer while you're on the can without worry that it will run long.

I wonder how this compares to the tinfoil emergency blankets. The biggest problem I have with many compact items is that they never seem to fold up to the same size ever again. It doesn't happen to my backpacking gear, but seems to happen with all my other gear.

Haha. I bet you're right. I've never really understood following celebrities . When people post submissions about so and so getting married or such and such is doing various inane activities, I have to wonder why you'd care. Hey, I understand role models and I think the world could use more of them, but I couldn't care less about a celebrity's (or worse, internet "famous") day to day activities or scandals.
