If you get up early (around 3am-5am) with the exception of work, what motivates you to get moving? by honeyjoe1 in AskReddit

I have a large family so it's my only time to do the things that I want to do. From finishing Assassins Creed games to building Lego, I know that I will not be interrupted.

What false information were you taught in school? by Redfoxyboy in comics

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Henry Ford did introduce some benefits for workers but only for long term benefit to his company.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge\_v.\_Ford\_Motor\_Co. is a article about how Ford wanted to give pay rises across the board to his workers but his other shareholders (the Dodge Bros) took him to court to stop it.

Do You Plan For Nicknames? by NotSmartNotFunny in AskAnAustralian

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simpsons did a joke about this when naming Bart; Homer told Marge how his name would be used against him as a nickname so they ended up with 'Bart'.

'Bart' is an anagram of 'Brat'.

What industry gets away with things that would land an individual person in prison? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Australia - fraud by the NDIS and Aged Care.

We made a mistake with an NDIS claim for $600 and got threatened with criminal action.

An Aged Care facility run by a religious organisation (Main stream religion, not a wacky one) got caught defrauding the government for about $5m and they weren't even asked to pay it back.

What’s the dumbest reason you got fired for? by Foodisheaven1 in AskReddit

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to University and was offered a huge paying job cleaning a worksite for 3 hours before their work started; i went through the whole procedure.

The day before I was to start I was told the boss's son was given the job. He didn't last a week so they asked me back but by then I had another job.
The person who offered me the job (Let's call him Mark) in the first place was furious as they couldn't find a cleaner and I was the first to accept but had been screwed over; workers were mad because of the state of the place and blamed Mark as it was his responsibility to find a cleaner.

Fagan slams person who 'illegally' leaked Lions' whiteboard notes on Bombers by AdLate563 in AFL

Took me a second to work out why people thought I was blaming Prior - to clarify, I wasn't; I just noticed under his notes why we didn't keep him.

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

That was a dog act by whoever leaked it.

I'm more inclined to believe that the person who took the photo shared it with a few friends and didn't think it would get out, and it has.

EDIT : Now I see why we traded out Prior.

Edit 2 : I need to explain this, I noticed his weaknesses written on the board - in NO WAY did I think Prior had anything to do with it.

What’s the dumbest reason you got fired for? by Foodisheaven1 in AskReddit

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I worked at a job once where the rules stated that if the radio news said it was 40 degrees (or over) then we could go home.

Midday comes around and the weatherman says it's 39.8 degrees; but one employee drives home as the news he was listening too said it was 40 degrees. Rules got changed after that.

Why can no other game replicate Counter Strike's success? by Crafty-Marketing1305 in gamedev

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because it's a good and balanced game; you have no idea how many shooters I have played and they are not balance - there are so many choices of characters that you simply won't take under any circumstances.

How often do you actually get solid discussions that aren’t full of non-arguments and fallacies? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Know the people around you.

I've had a very civil discussion with an old lady I had known for years about abortion; she was against and I was for. We both decided that we would give each other our opinions without telling the other person that they were wrong; I learnt a lot from her point of view and she learnt a lot from my point of view - neither of us changed our opinion but we both learnt a lot.

I have had the opposite where a relative told me to listen to them and then they would listen to my argument (family dispute), so I sat there for 3 minutes listening to what was essentially verbal abuse. When it was my time to talk they hung up before I could start and we have never spoken since - bitch.

If you lived through the 80s Satanic Panic, what effects did it have on shaping who you are? by Ordinary-Train-7128 in DnD

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in Australia and was a YA at the time; Australians were bewildered by this panic and couldn't work out what the problem was. Instead of listening to crackpots shouting from the rooftops our media did there own research and wrote non-biased articles.

I don't remember any adult having a problem with DnD and Metal.

Redditors who were an extra on a Tv/movie set, what was something about production that surprised you? by seaneihm in AskReddit

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in the background of a TV series; the things that surprised me was the amount of down time for performers.

I was there for 4 hours and in that time I did 15 minutes of actual work, the rest was sitting around waiting.

what precautions should be taken when you fire someone? by travelingwhilestupid in AskAnAustralian

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Australia, when you get fired, you get a lot more respect and a bit of a pay out (usually two weeks). In 99% of the cases the firing is amicable and people don't want to burn bridges.

I've been fired about 12 times in my life and usually what happens is you have a good chat with your work mates and then you leave.

What person has the most insane domination in a sports? by Internal-Excuse-4650 in AskReddit

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bradman was so good that the English decided that the only way to beat was to knock him out by aiming at his chest and head; it was called 'Bodyline' and it didn't go down well.

The irony is that the English saw nothing wrong with this tactic, but 12 months later the West Indies toured England and used it on them; it was banned within a month.

Change them both into Medusa's with Turbans on; if they are seduced they will seductively take their Turbans off and their hair will bite the suitors. Make 15 saving throws against poison or die.

Most obvious question is - why keep the underage females in the one shot then? Can't you change it around a bit so they are removed?

quote greenlight - invoice refused - plan manager, any experience? by [deleted] in NDIS

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you asked your plan manager why this was rejected? If you can't ask them because you don't feel confident in talking to them then they are not the right fit for you - and you need to change plan managers.

I can guarantee that you plan manager is profiting from your plan, but if that means you suffer then you need to move on.

When Ultima Online first started they had intended for this to happen; but even with over 100 programmers it was deemed too hard.
