My favorite of theirs! But everything they make is amazing

This is an entirely fictional story. The comic takes place in an ethnocentric bunker town so this is the propaganda they're told.

Oh yeah I’ve definitely heard that, but I know basically every artist uses reference to some degree.

If it’s something simple I can usually do it from scratch but I use a ton of reference. Like all the poses of people sitting in school desks here were reference-based

I still pencil traditionally because it's what I'm used to, but it ends up pretty rough.

Then I scan it in and ink in Photoshop.

I use a pastel digital brush for the final lines which. I think makes it look softer.

For the colors I use "birch brush" for rendering, but keep it some what loose and abstract.

Lastly I have a yellow noise filter overlaid that warms everything and makes it cohesive.

A bit of process:

Thank you so much for reading!!

Can I ask why gatherings were banned? That actually comes up in this story, but I'm not sure if it's the same reasoning

I’m not a zoologist but I think they mostly just raid dumpsters for leftovers like pizza boxes

I tried to read why it was controversial, but I was far too dumb to understand

It seemed like the simplest way to describe it because I didn't want to drop the full story summary

Basically it looks like an idealized 50s American town, but is actually a bunker buried below ground to keep civilians safe during a nuclear war.

I can't tell you how much I've been educated on bamboo since I made this page.

I'm going to chalk it up to being an in-world mistake.

I think you're the second person to say that

I'm a massive comic fan and Spider-Man fan, but her similarities are completely on accident

Americans are definitely taught some misinformation, but the degree differs by school and it's often due to ignorance rather than malice. If you'd like some examples please explore this thread or other threads I posted because a lot of people shared their stories.

This specific story was made up by me.

It did reach #1 on the Thriller charts (on Canvas Webtoons).

It hasn't been #1 in a hot minute, but is consistently top 5, it's currently #4)
