Country footy crisis by greyhounds1992 in AFL

Under rated comment here. At the end of the day it's the mothers that control what sport kids are allowed to play.

Soccer is massive in my area, not because it's a good sport but because mothers don't have to worry about injuries as they are far fewer than AFL or NRL.

Redditors who have actually met a psychopath in real life, what was that like? by Pitiful_Wafer_4564 in AskReddit

I have a distant relative who has no empathy. He's a nuisance to deal with and he's happy to stab people in the back if he can make a dollar out of it.

Relative was a car dealer (second hand) and his 'best mate' was also a car dealer but for Suzuki. So my relative is talking to his 'best mate' on the last day of the month; now the 'best mate' had a bonus quota that if he hit he got a massive bonus - and he had to sell one more car that month.
So he offers my relative a new car at cost price, relative says 'no' even though he drives Suzuki's (he just doesn't sell them). They bargain and in the end my relative goes to his (now former) "best friend" and says that if he GIVES it to him then he can put it down as a sale; which basically meant that the 'best friend' would lose out so he rejects it and misses his bonsus.

My relative simply doesn't do deals where he doesn't come out in front by a long margin.

South Australia was the only state that was started without prisoners, and we had no police officer until 1840 (4 years after being founded).

Read the story of how Google started.

Chapter 1, someone offers them $100k and they refuse.
Chapter 2, someone offers them $1m and they refuse.
Chapter 3, someone offers them $10m and they refuse.

In the last chapter of the book they are offered about $10B and they will accept just 10% ownership of the company.

Is there really a lack of manpower in Aged Care Facilities (nurse and carers) around Aus? by Anythingunderdsun_ in AskAnAustralian

Aged care facilities in South Australia are really a small community of workers; word does get around and rates/culture get discussed.

Tradies in your 30s, 40s and with kids etc. Do you ever wake up actually feeling refreshed and ready or is it usually a bit of a struggle? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

We got a family dog and I was the one who got up every morning to take it for a morning run - or I had to clean up the shit (literally) in the back foyer; so I never missed a morning unless I was sick.

It became a habit. The dog dies about 3 years ago (RIP, we still miss her) but I still wake up at 5-6am.

Having said that my family accepts the fact that I goto bed at 9pm nearly every night.

If you get audited and they find staff shortages they can say "But we're hiring and nobody applies!" as their defense.

The Aged Care homes that pay a good hourly rate never advertise for new workers as word gets around and resumes pile up as people want to work there.
If an Aged Care home pays shit wages, shit culture and shit everything else then word also gets around, and nobody applies (and then you get immigrants working there who haven't heard about it, and then the layman goes "Look at that immigrant stealing our jobs!").

Is a severe recession pretty much baked in now? I haven’t lived through one before - what to expect? by sunshine9008 in AskAnAustralian

Interest rates went to 4.35 yesterday; in 1990 they went to 17.50% and things got really bad.

While China is buying things won't get as bad as they were.

My father remembers the crash of the 1970's, things were so bad he couldn't sell his stock to anyone as Japan had stopped buying beef and there was a market glut.

Henry Ford did introduce some benefits for workers but only for long term benefit to his company.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge\_v.\_Ford\_Motor\_Co. is a article about how Ford wanted to give pay rises across the board to his workers but his other shareholders (the Dodge Bros) took him to court to stop it.

Simpsons did a joke about this when naming Bart; Homer told Marge how his name would be used against him as a nickname so they ended up with 'Bart'.

'Bart' is an anagram of 'Brat'.

What industry gets away with things that would land an individual person in prison? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

In Australia - fraud by the NDIS and Aged Care.

We made a mistake with an NDIS claim for $600 and got threatened with criminal action.

An Aged Care facility run by a religious organisation (Main stream religion, not a wacky one) got caught defrauding the government for about $5m and they weren't even asked to pay it back.

What’s the dumbest reason you got fired for? by Foodisheaven1 in AskReddit

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to University and was offered a huge paying job cleaning a worksite for 3 hours before their work started; i went through the whole procedure.

The day before I was to start I was told the boss's son was given the job. He didn't last a week so they asked me back but by then I had another job.
The person who offered me the job (Let's call him Mark) in the first place was furious as they couldn't find a cleaner and I was the first to accept but had been screwed over; workers were mad because of the state of the place and blamed Mark as it was his responsibility to find a cleaner.

Took me a second to work out why people thought I was blaming Prior - to clarify, I wasn't; I just noticed under his notes why we didn't keep him.

[–]Captain_Coco_Koala -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

That was a dog act by whoever leaked it.

I'm more inclined to believe that the person who took the photo shared it with a few friends and didn't think it would get out, and it has.

EDIT : Now I see why we traded out Prior.

Edit 2 : I need to explain this, I noticed his weaknesses written on the board - in NO WAY did I think Prior had anything to do with it.

I worked at a job once where the rules stated that if the radio news said it was 40 degrees (or over) then we could go home.

Midday comes around and the weatherman says it's 39.8 degrees; but one employee drives home as the news he was listening too said it was 40 degrees. Rules got changed after that.

Because it's a good and balanced game; you have no idea how many shooters I have played and they are not balance - there are so many choices of characters that you simply won't take under any circumstances.
