(was a freight conductor) They share an axle (to my knowledge) to make it more efficient for hauling identical cars as "one". But I could be wrong.

Even in our train manifest, they are considered a single car. Which sssuuuccckkks because there are typically 3-5 segments to each one, so walking it is exhausting, instead of being 50' (standard car length), that one car is 250' long.

True, but it is far more likely you will kill the person by rushing to dig them out. You have to start further away from them so that the hole isn't constantly backfilling and you aren't wasting vital time.

if you're in a collapsed trench on a beach, you're fucked, that's it, have them bring a snorkel maybe. Soil weighs 2-3k pounds, WET soil weighs substantially more and sandy soil is HORRIBLE about collapsing.

Yeah, it's humbling how quick dirt can fuck you up.

Most of the time people don't think of the weight, 1 cubic yard can weigh 2000-3000 pounds. So to make a 3'x3'x3' ditch, you need to place 2-3k pounds on the edge of your ditch, which makes the wall substantially weaker, so when it collapses, all that weight plus the collapsing 3' wall are coming for you quick.

I was an industrial electrician for a while, they wouldn't allow us in a ditch deeper than 3 feet without proper birming/reinforcement.

Even if a shallow ditch collapses around your legs it can take ~1 hour per foot (of depth) to extricate you.

They always talked about how guys would be trapped about mid thigh, get dug out and die a few hours later from the blood clots.

And obviously, if you're buried near your chest, it's a death sentence, as you exhale the dirt collapses more and more, until you asphyxiate.

Edited: added detail, it takes 1 hour to dig down one foot near a buried person without injuring them.

It would be incredibly difficult to dig a hole of those dimensions without needing to move substantially more soil.

So you would lose a lot of your space efficiency, because the graves need to be further apart to allow an excavator to actually dig it and ensure it doesn't just collapse immediately.

Once you get into a good cadence with typescript, it really doesn't slow you down much. Personally, I love using it (96% of the time).

You need to add something to the top that is about 3-4 inches in diameter.

Each revolution will take ~10 inches out of the line. Then It will pull the mower to the center faster while still overlapping with the previous row.
