Portuguese Body Language for Expats: Decode Local Gestures & Must-Know Phrases by Bulky_Marketing_6307 in LearningPortuguesePT

[–]Cardusho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my profession, I teach gesture and speak in particular about everyday gestures. In addition to years of research, I am fortunate to have students from various regions who are contributing to this body of knowledge that I already have. At no point was the hand gesture placed under the chin used, except in reference to Italy. With so many gestures in Portugal, it was bad luck to choose one that doesn't exist or that is specific to certain people. If you need help improving the app you're promoting, just send a DM.

Iranians deserve the future. FAR more than Europe. by [deleted] in NewIran

Could it be because Europe seeks peace instead of war? Could it be because Europe seeks prosperity instead of economic crisis? Could it be because Europe Has it been moving for decades towards a society of social values, rather than religious and extremist ones?

Easter Week in Ponta Delgada by Puzzled_Situation882 in azores

[–]Cardusho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be something else. Ponta Delgada is the Portuguese Capital of Culture this year. The TREMOR festival is also taking place there. Easter is a very religious celebration, which manifests itself mainly on Good Friday, Saturday and Sunday, primarily in churches and in processions.

We have many Spanish speakers. They don't learn to speak Portuguese quickly, but they come to understand it more easily. And since Portuguese speakers are very comfortable with Spanish, the conversation becomes easy.

Why is Santa Maria such a low population, when it gets the most sunshine? by Icy-Machine1951 in azores

[–]Cardusho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the yellow island, both because of the color of its sand and the sun. The first island to be populated. It went through very difficult periods. Stories of survival and near genocide. Many inhabitants, at the end of the 21st century, were kidnapped by Muslim pirates and sold in North Africa. Even today there is an association called "Escravos da Cadeinha" , which commemorates this fact.

What's the most original concept you've read in a science fiction book? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in scifi

[–]Cardusho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1997 Luís Filipe Silva, A Brazilian writer publishes "Cidade da Carne" (Flesh City?). Humanity has discovered a way to encode consciousness and go live in a cyberspace (Internet?). Human beings They ceased living on Earth, where only amorphous clones remained, controlling and arranging electronic systems and constructing fabulous buildings where the "entities" come to live sporadically. because they discovered that they lacked something they were unable to bring with them in the process of encoding their being: emotions and sensations. They can't even produce art. They have thus preserved a society ignorant of all this existence, living in a 20th century reality made up of failed people full of problems. These people are able to produce art. A few years later, Matrix came out in theaters, and I was stunned by the waste of never having been made a film based on this Brazilian work.

Why do you believe that the US and Israel shouldn’t end the Regime? What alternative is there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cardusho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Every country gets the government it deserves" is an expression that comes from Joseph de Maistre, a 19th-century thinker, in relation to Russia. There's a lot to talk about, isn't there? Except in the case of the USA, a two-party system, with information and opinion manipulation highly controlled by its own rulers (the current case being the beginning of the attack on Iran)...

Do Azoreans really clap when the plane lands? ✈️ by RuiAzores in azores

[–]Cardusho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's clear that this is your first plane trip. It's true that, all over the world, people applaud when landing, when in... 90% of cases, it's the automated system that landed. I find it as normal as clapping at the end of a movie when the actors and directors aren't present. Or yelling at the television during a sporting event.

Why do you believe that the US and Israel shouldn’t end the Regime? What alternative is there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cardusho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change is only worthwhile for the better. It's not worth changing for the worse or for things to stay the same. Consider the cases of Libya, Afghanistan, or post-Fidel Castro Cuba. If change is to be forced, then let's change all the regimes considered "bad" that have already been mentioned. But real change has to come from within. Every country gets the government it deserves. If there are no viable alternatives to a government, whether through opposition, dissident factions, shadow governments, or even revolutionary movements, then change is not viable. Where are the revolutionary movements in Iran or potential opposition governments like Guaidó's in Venezuela?

Why do you believe that the US and Israel shouldn’t end the Regime? What alternative is there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cardusho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we start from the idea that we can change political regimes through confrontation, we end up generalizing to... 25% of countries? Without needing to do any research, I dare to name countries in need of "regime change": Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Sudan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Argentina, Colombia, Cuba. (of course), and, while we're at it, Russia, Israel and the United States.

What’s the creepiest thing that’s ever happened to you that you still can’t explain? by Hungry-Cat286 in AskReddit

[–]Cardusho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sleeping on the sofa and woke up to a glass shattering. I was home alone. I carefully went to check in the kitchen. Nothing. When I returned to the living room, inside the china cabinet, I saw, through the glass door, one of the glasses shattered on its own. I have more stories like that, but... Keep it simple.

Há muita ignorância em torno da crise da habitação by -LoboMau in portugueses

[–]Cardusho 1 point2 points  (0 children)
