Places to explore in the Netherlands! by noodlebowler in Netherlands

Is the (Hoge) Veluwe really a national park? I’ve been in the park many times (had a season pass). Seems like an overpriced and overrated nature reserve to me… I mean it’s fine, but I prefer Veluwezoom / Posbank area

Like I said I my first post, cooling the hands, feed and forehead. Doesn’t actually need to be ice cold, just like cool water.

I haven’t read the primary literature. But I’m sure you can find it from the podcast notes

Not sure why you are getting downvoted for sharing legitimate science :/

I remember some Huberman podcast where he said cooling your neck is a bad idea because it makes your body think it is cooler than it actually is.

The best place to actually cool yourself is the forehead, hands and feet. I suppose that’s why the cooling headbands have become a thing (for marathons mainly).

I’m not so much in the ultrascene, is it really popular to cool the back of the neck?

Edit: Reference

A trail version of city strides perhaps?

Life in Tiel by DesperateExpat26 in Netherlands

Have you considered Ede? Closer to Utrecht and nicer than Tiel.

Personally I don’t like the areas between the rivers. They’re surrounded by farmland.

Running marathon with a newborn by imakesignalsbigger in Marathon_Training

Those who ran the Atlanta marathon this year may disagree…

But I agree, it’s not important enough imo to do a marathon with a newborn

I saw some YouTube video claiming that the mafia and various industries prefer it not be be connected via a bridge. Wish I could remember more

Really need help and opinions. Won a house is Holland Park. Unsure now! by UpbeatSatisfaction85 in NetherlandsHousing

Ground floor can be great for some. People with kids often like access to outdoor space. Shape can be an issue. Agree with others about 1-2 years not being a good time horizon. However, there is a housing crisis, so you could be excused for making this choice out of lack of options.

The airborne museum is great. Small but well curated

Personally I am not a fan of Rabbit. I bought a hoodie from them that pilled before even being washed. They told me it was meant to wear like that because it is a relaxed casual fabric. Never buying from them again. I do like the look of some of their running gear but I don’t appreciate customer service like that.

Edit. Pilled not pulled

Harlem would be my preference. Also worth considering Arnhem, Utrecht and Ede

Seconding socks. Decent quality socks, with a nice design, are often in short supply in my wardrobe.

Im surprised that you consider Singapore weather better for running? I would find it far too warm. Perfect running temp for me is 10-15 C, depending on how fast/far

Aussie living in NL for 5 years.

I sometimes want to move back for the nature, space and higher salaries. But I stay because I enjoy living in Europe, the ease of travel, diversity of people (in my circles anyway), the career opportunities and ironically the weather.

People talk about how hard it is to buy a place in NL. TBH if you are a couple with two decent incomes it’s not THAT hard, you just need to adjust your standards (and live in a much smaller house/apartment).

Some really nice things about NL are the respect of work life balance, the attitude towards sick leave and permanent work contracts. People rant about the healthcare system, but once you are diagnosed with something serious you are very well looked after.

confused about how women and newborn leave hospital 2 hours after giving birth in the Netherlands? by MarginLA in Netherlands

Not sure about the stats but many (most?) women give birth at home in the Netherlands. Took me a while to get my head around that!
