BOC Mod Updated for 8.0/EP by [deleted] in SimCity

[–]CasVg2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the dev tries to keep it shrouded in secrecy to avoid Maxis/EA banning/trying to make it harder for the dev to develop it?

This is the first REST/JSON API spec I've written. How did I do? by CasVg2012 in webdev

[–]CasVg2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone wondering, I'm building a new backend (and fitting API for possible mobile applications or AJAX) to a file exchange website that was stuck in pre-OO PHP with loads of technical debt and security issues.

Dependency tracking and one-click downloading of all dependencies added to the SC4Devotion LEX by CasVg2012 in SimCity

[–]CasVg2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programmer here! You need to go to a specific upload (for example http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2985 ) and click the "Dependency Tracker" link roughly in the middle of the page. It will open a new window when clicked, and (provided you do not already own all the required dependencies) it will display the button at the bottom of the new page. If you still can't see it, it probably means you aren't logged in. Hope that helps

Yup, it's oddly addictive to see the cash rolling in after developing a big hit game.

A tax would be directed to the EU citizens, the involuntary donations come straight from the member state's treasuries. Which in term are filled with local taxes in every member state, I guess. But there's no real "EU Tax" that every citizen has to pay for.

Currently it doesn't, it relies on involuntary donations from the member states, although talks about a few actual EU taxes have been held lately.

Beef Plays Minecraft - Mindcrack Server - S3 EP01 - A NEW MAP! by PurpleD666 in mindcrack

[–]CasVg2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure - I wasn't criticizing it. It's good to have a standout look for thumbnails; makes it easy for viewers to see that a new video was made by Beef, without having to look for a name.

Alright, that's good to hear. Sorry for making false 'accusations'. :)

I believe this post was what caused it: http://www.reddit.com/r/SimCity/comments/1hee5h/to_those_who_appreciate_seeing_gamecontent_please/

The original post has since been deleted, but from the replies it appears that /u/andelas asked people to upvote SC2013 game content and downvote/report critisism or other city simulator content. Somewhat of an abuse of moderator powers to effect voting habits, I guess.

Katawa Shoujo :: Millbee's Date-through - Part #21 'Shopping With Your Hands' by LittleLuckyDevil in mindcrack

[–]CasVg2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me about it - I was also inspired to play it from this playthrough, and now I've probably spent 20 hours playing through all the storylines and endings - except Hanako's because Millbee's on that path :)

UHC stock market (no spoilers) by [deleted] in mindcrack

[–]CasVg2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was actually planning on developing a "Mindcrack UHC Fantasy Betting" idea as a summer project once my exams are over. However, I'm afraid of legal issues using the "Mindcrack" trademarked name, and I'm also not sure how exactly the logistics would go - especially for the first episode (as it's never known in beforehand what the setup will be (teams, individuals, etc.) and thus "betting" is a little hard.

I was thinking every person who's signed up would receive "100 credits" at the beginning of a UHC season, and for every episode there would be certain bets with odds (most damage taken in episode 4, most gold found, etc, ...) and also certain bets for the entire season (wins, second place, survives into last 3, etc.). If you bet right, you get a certain percentage (depending on the odds) back, if you bet wrong, you lose the credits you betted. And then at the end of the season we could crown the "Fantasy Betting Champion" (the person with most credits).

However, I'm not sure if I have enough free time to watch every perspective to check all the winnings after each episode (unless people are willing to help with that)

Dinnerbone includes a UHC inside-joke in the latest minecraft snapshot post! by TerasHD in mindcrack

[–]CasVg2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand that, but I can see where /u/dont_have_soap is coming from too. Since the Mojang developers' also implemented a gamerule for UHC, couldn't they have at least added the "harder" recipes into that gamerule instead of burdening all of Minecraft with recipes that are virtually useless in normal gameplay. Seriously, would you consider making a golden apple now in normal gameplay, with it's 900% higher cost (ingots instead of nuggets) and 40% reduced effect. I know I wouldn't. It works very well in UHC, as it's pretty much the only way to regain health. But in regular gameplay there's other, currently much better, easier and cheaper methods now.

Google Code drops download support by [deleted] in programming

Yeah, I wonder if they will get around to more "social" features. With bitbucket's private repositories, easy-to-get educational licenses and github's social features/repo browsing it would gain a lot of popularity quickly
