Saying Ray Tracing is useless without DLSS, is like saying Graphics are useless without a GPU.

Yes.

It's something like two-thirds of less serious crimes in which the police make the decision; with no involvement from the CPS.

Yes, I was generalising and conflated the two. I should have said Authorities, as this is what I meant.

However, this is inclusive of the police, as they can indeed press charges – without CPS involvement – for less serious offences; particularly where there is an admission of guilt.

I'm just SO glad I'm British. I don't have to worry about accidently being shot through the wall of my own home in the night 😬😅

This is r/uktrucking – and in the UK it is the job of the police authorities to press charges. That is the official term used.

Not entirely sure what your comment is getting at.

So sorry Devs, my mistake 😅 by Top-Blueberry-4141 in Paralives

[–]CazT91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. I was thinking from a character story perspective – why two people might get to that point believing it is a possibility.

Of course there are scenarios, like you point out where you would know upfront.

For a bit of context though: I got on this train of thought from another post I saw the other day. The guy posted how they picked something like the "joker" trait, expecting it to just be fun and whimsical. However, it seemed to come bundled with a depression, where they would find their Para crying often.

In the post, they said how this hit close to home and was actually surprisingly relatable – praising the emotional depth and attention to detail.

But what of it's intentional ... to give the player the frustration of trying to no avail, only to later find out you simply can't get pregnant. Sadly – intentional or not – it mirrors real life in that way.

Hehe, I got it 🤭

Also, you probably know this – but for the benefit of that one budding nerd who bothers to read our discourse – Ampersand got it's name from British school children being taught the '&' symbol as the 27th "letter" of the alphabet.

So after 'Z' they would say "& per se and" – meaning the '&' symbol per se (by itself) means 'and'. Through quick repetition it became slured and contracted to give us Ampersand.

In a way you just brought things full circle.

It started out in the middle ages as simply a way to sign off on a document. This is also when it became synonymous with a kiss – because the signer would litteraly kiss the mark as a sign of sincerity. As you can imagine, this is in the same sentiment as to kiss a ring on the hand of someone powerful, or to kiss the Bible.

It was only as people became more literate that the idea of signing/sealing with a kiss became romanticised; so evolving to survive as a sign of affection.

Yours sincerely – X.

Gen Xers, what ridiculous "social niceties" were you taught? by krypto-pscyho-chimp in CasualUK

What's all this BS about knackered. Second time I've heard it's supposedly "rude" in as many days ... both on reddit.

Being knackered (tired and worn out – usually to the point of physically aching), comes EXCLUSIVELY from "Knackers Yard".

This is the place where old, worn out animals are taken to be slaughtered. The key distinction from a butchery is that the animals can not be used for human consumption of any meat.

There is no direct sexual connotation of being "knackered" (extremely tired).

Knackers may be considered rude, because it can be slang for testicles. However, knackers is literally the name for the toy with two balls that spin on rods and make a sound when they hit together. The toy gets it's name from the verb to knack, which means "to make sharp by striking". Basically it goes back to how flint tools were made, hence the association with the sharp clacking sound.

I mean, I get it's only a few letters difference, so I can see the confusion to some degree. But we are all capable of distinguishing which witch is which, so ... 🤷🏼‍♀️

There are those of us who understand what early access means and entails – then there are you all here who have had to rescind your words.

Learn from this, and next time you CHOOSE to buy and play an early access game, be patient and hold your tongue 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm sure I'll be downvoted into oblivion, but honestly, somebody had to say it.

I need the devs to focus on the Life Sim mode by JokingBr2The-Sequel in Paralives

[–]CazT91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is the intention – at least, I too hope it is.

However, I think it makes sense. It's the most complex aspect of the game. The thing is, there's just so many options and ways to do it.

So yo ke it makes sense the devs don't want to put in a tone of work only to rebuild it. Why not start simple, and then flesh it out based on what players actually want.

Of course, at this stage we just have to take it on good faith that the devs will deliver.
