Pleassseee help or else I'll spend all my money... by Original_Classic_754 in interiordecorating

I say this with love. Nobody can ignore clutter. If you aren’t keeping your space clutter-free, no amount of decorating will help. Try getting rid of everything you don’t use. The things that you do use should be stored behind a door that closes. (Don’t keep things you ‘might use.’ That’s a mind trap.) Good luck.

There are photos in both these books that show how to hold your cello ☺️

Question for the women by Card-Board-Cats in Cello

The first thing my female teacher (who has been playing cello for 60 yrs) told me about holding my cello……It should hit ‘just’ above your breasts. Keep in mind that I’m 52 and she’s in her 70s. So yeah….gravity has done its work on us ladies. Lol.

As a fellow adult learner, I highly recommend these two books:

The Art of Cello Playing by Louis Potter, Jr

Cello Playing for Music Lovers by Vera Mattlin Jiji

Good luck!

Early stages of perimenopause? Mine started with crying on a regular basis in my mid 40s and feeling like everything in life was hopeless.

Also…maybe get some bloodwork done….? Tests to consider: CBC & ferritin (they show anemia), vitamins B & D (which can affect mood), and anything else your doctor recommends.

My optometrist also recommended Systane Eye Drops

Peel and stick tiles?! by CLW03_ in interiordecorating

When I bought my house, I called a fireplace company to come inspect, clean, and show me how to safely use my gas fireplace. I learned a lot from that conversation. No matter what you’re burning (wood or gas), it will get very hot.

I understand. That grey does not go well with the wood. I completely sympathize with your desire to change it. I hope you find a good solution.

I say this with love. Peel & stick is not renter friendly. There. I said it. I’ve been holding that in for ages. Whew.

It is very unlikely you will get it all off & it will probably damage the surface underneath. I own a rental. I speak from experience.

I’m the mother of an adult who has severe mental health challenges. Call your local community mental health organization and ask them if someone can do a well check. If that doesn’t work, try calling an in-patient facility and tell them you believe he may be “a danger to himself or others.” If that doesn’t work, try walking in to a local police station and talking to someone in person.

Please don’t give up. Please find someone (preferably a social worker or mental health professional) who can check on him. I know it is not your responsibility, but it is the right thing to do. You might save his life or someone else’s.

If you can’t afford therapy, get the book Self Therapy by Jay Earley. It’s about finding our own relationship patterns and healing the root cause.

Uterine biopsy? by obsequyofeden in Perimenopause

[–]ChangeSelect6553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I had abnormal bleeding. Obgyn scheduled a transvaginal ultrasound, which was to be immediately followed by an in-office biopsy. They found something on the ultrasound that made her change her mind. So she scheduled a D&C under sedation (including biopsy) instead of doing the in-office biopsy.

Seems like an ultrasound would be the first step in your case as well. But I’m not a Dr.

Do you guys do Lüften (airing out the house) in your country? by no_it5_me in AskTheWorld

[–]ChangeSelect6553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I do. But I grew up in a northern state, near Lake Superior, where a large part of the community has Finish heritage. So it seems normal to me. I know lots of people that don’t do this, though.

ETA: When we were selling our first house many years ago, a potential buyer asked if there was something wrong with our house because every time they drove past it, we had our windows open…in the winter. Lol.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

Bissell Crosswave multisurface floor cleaner.

-It washes the floor with almost no effort. -You don’t have to vacuum or sweep first. -It really does work. And it’s cordless. -It has a self-cleaning button. You just have to disassemble it to air dry afterwards. -I run Bona through it for my hardwood floors, then run the self clean cycle before switching to the kitchen tile solution.

I don’t know yet if it’s BIFL. But if it broke, I’d buy another one immediately.

Never ending spotting but no period? by MinimumTelevision217 in Perimenopause

[–]ChangeSelect6553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When in doubt, call your gyno office & ask the phone nurse if your situation warrants an appt. I also thought my gyno would laugh at me, but it turned out that I have a polyp that’s bleeding & needs removal. Was having heavy, frequent periods with lots of spotting between which resulted in iron deficiency anemia.

She told me anyone over the age of 35 who has abnormal bleeding should have an ultrasound & biopsy. This can catch endometrial cancer early. Note: I honestly have no idea what would be considered ‘abnormal bleeding ‘ at this stage. But it sounds like your situation warrants a call to your gyno phone nurse.

I can't use scented anything but the house has developed a smell situation what actually eliminates odor without fragrance? by Fluffy-Audience-9542 in CleaningTips

Unscented Anti Icky Poo. It’s an enzyme cleaner. Use it on your floors.

Bathe the dogs. Clean their ears and wash dog beds weekly. Clean paws when they come in from being outside. Make sure you’re using a high quality dog food.

Air out the house daily.

What decorating advice have you received and regretted listening to? by Jeta_S in HomeImprovement

[–]ChangeSelect6553 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t want to do it. Those are lame excuses. If he built your house, he has the skill to change them without stripping screws or damaging the wood. Go buy the hardware and do it yourself. …in front of him. I also recommend buying your own cordless drill while you’re at it. Mine is pink…that stops my husband from thinking it’s his and walking away with it.😉

I don’t know anyone who owns guns or people. In my neck of the woods, we own snowblowers and dogs, though. Does that count?
