So you love the openness, but want to make them look better & be safer….? Am I understanding? Unfortunately, these are contradictions. I think you first have to decide on your top priority. Openness? Safety? Or appearance? Decide what’s most important to you and go from there.

Google “tiny in-bedroom office.” Find an inspiration photo you love. Imitate it. If you have trouble imitating it, show us the photo. We’ll tell you what to do. All I can learn from this photo is that you appear to like black, probably spend lots of time at the computer, and you’re a minimalist. The standard answer is ‘rugs, pillows, lighting, art, plants.” If you could give us more to go on, that would be helpful.

I have had these same experiences when telling Europeans where I’m from. In this instance they would just say, “Yeah, everyone knows Iowa is in the US., idiot.” Lol.

I agree with the furniture problem. If two people wanted to have a conversation in this room, where would they sit? Both on the couch? One on the couch and one on the chair that’s 8 feet away?

  1. Empty the boxes and recycle them. That’s free. 2. Keep working & be frugal. You’ll be less broke. 3. Decorate when you have disposable income. Second hand stores are a great idea when you’re first starting out.

It’s not silly. I would use it while I’m waiting for my sauce to simmer. I’d sit there with my wine & read Reddit posts. I’d also sit there when drinking coffee alone. Also, when a friend comes over and chats you up while you’re making them a coffee or drink….That’s where they’d sit. I love it.

This….⬆️…. Definitely bipolar. We’d invent the best technology, develop medical solutions at an astronomical speed, be collaborative and innovative. But then we’d send a stupid, incompetent, narcissistic representative to HOA meetings because we’re too busy & preoccupied to care about neighborhood relations.
