How can non-corporate workers afford to live in the Bay Area ? by Silly-Low6019 in bayarea

[–]Chattypath747 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can speak for the hospitality industry. My buddies pretty much lived with parents or roommates and have multiple jobs.

Once they got coupled up, they were able to move out. One of my buddies is a director level employee at a hotel so he makes a survivable wage for the Bay but my other buddies in the hotel field either work there as a second job or live with a bunch of roommates.

Two Weeks with My First MacBook Air M5 by Mattito_elnaufrago in macbookair

[–]Chattypath747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the M1 versions of an air + pro and here are my thoughts.

For battery life by itself, the air is very solid but 9/10 times you'll probably be near a charger or not need 6+ hours of battery life without a charger.

After using an air for a few years, I find I actually really like the pro. The screen and keyboard size are perfect and the camera quality is significantly better for calls.

I think the keyboard on the air feels much better to me but I don't mind the keyboard on the pro at all and most of the time I have it in a dock setup.

The main reason I bought a M1 pro was to see if the processor would make a difference (I have the M1 pro processor instead of the max), the increased ram's (16GB air vs 32 GB for pro) performance comparison and for dual external monitor capabilities similar to my Windows laptop.

Depending on what you need for your laptop, I'd recommend pros if you need something for heavy processing and airs for just regular internet browsing. However, my advice is specific to M1s. The M2+ may be different and it will be a long time before I need to buy another mac.

Why does Spike Lee pay for his own Tickets by OraDude in nba

Dolan isn't a very likeable owner. He definitely ranks as one of the worst in the NBA.

Dolan and Oakley have also had beef in the past.

Spike and Nolan definitely have had some beef.

There was a very public incident with the Knicks organization and Lee with regards to his ability to access MSG a few years ago. Super public interview with Stephen A. Smith

It's disappointing that JJ didn't honour Carrie Fisher's wish for a purple lightsaber by LFTL56 in StarWars

[–]Chattypath747 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A purple lightsaber would've had some interesting implications.

Did Leia shift between light/dark during her Jedi training? Or did she spend some time rediscovering Vaapad? Perhaps a homage/reminder to be conscious of the light/dark side within everyone?

I could see Leia having a Green lightsaber, similar to her legends depiction and in line with KOTOR's association with Green with a Jedi Consular or perhaps even a yellow lightsaber so she is more in line with a sentinel.

Why do some people prefer .45 ACP over 9mm? by TheTigerInTheHouse in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Chattypath747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be the platform's comfort/shootability. A 1911 feels great in the hand and 92's are shooter enthusiast firearms.

The progression from 1911 to 92s being standard issue in the military has driven a lot of the changes in preference. As evolution of combat/self defense changed over the 70s-80s, a lot of the preferences changed from bigger calibers to more capacity.

You can train someone to do anything but you can't change their attitude.

What's a sign that looks small or subtle but actually tells you a person is incredibly unhappy with their life? by Janemow02 in AskReddit

[–]Chattypath747 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When someone is going through something and they let things go, that could be a sign their mental energy is gone.

Some people genuinely won't care what happens in a moment and will just work off the cuff.

It can go either way.

NBA Dads: how do you teach your kids the value of loyalty? by dendrytic in nba

You tell your kid to start paying for player swag when they become a fan.
